We have learned what
a
watershed is, and what
our
watershed is, and how important it is to keep our watersheds healthy.
The question is, HOW DO WE GET AND KEEP OUR WATERSHED HEALTHY?
We've already begun.
We have learned what a watershed is, and we have educated ALL the people in
our survey about watersheds. It's a start!

There are
organizations working to get the word out and to improve our watersheds.
Some of them are:
Woodbridge
River Watch
EPA
NJDEP
The Watershed
Stewards Program
Watershed
Ambassadors Program
Arthur Kill
Watershed Association
Citizens can become
involved in stream clean-ups, recycling, monitoring water, planting flowers,
trees, shrubs, voting for open space, maintaining wildlife habitats, even
managing watershed organizations.
Individuals can do
things to help. One way is by paving over less areas. Another is
by being careful about using, storing and disposing of household chemicals
so they don't get into our watersheds. Adults can vote for people who
are concerned about the environment and let the candidates know it is an
important issue. We should ask our elected officials if they know what
a watershed is!
Hopefully, our
understanding of watersheds will be something we will remember throughout
our lives.
