Thurgood Marshall to Herbert Levy of the ACLU, June 9, 1954

Before his eventual appointment as the first African American justice on the Supreme Court, Thurgood Marshall worked as lead counsel for the NAACP, successfully arguing the case Brown of Board v. Education (1954) before the Court. Here, Marshall writes a letter to Herbert Levy of the ACLU, thanking him for his support on the Brown case.
