Willis Henry Willoughby and his Native American wife Odelia Means migrated from Loundes County, Alabama through the panhandle of Florida to the wilderness of central Florida in the early 1870's. Willis, a preacher, led a small congregation and established Galilee Christian Church which still survives as an active country church. Willis homesteaded 150 acres on Little Lake Weir and the patent was dated February 1885 and signed by President Chester A. Arthur.
