Anna Deveare Smith: Let Me Down Easy

The actress and playwright Anna Deavere Smith has been credited with creating a new form of documentary theater.  The recipient of the prestigious MacArthur Foundation Fellowship, her work has been described as “a blend of theatrical art, social commentary, journalism and intimate reverie.” Her most recent play, Let Me Down Easy, will be presented as part of WNET’s Great Performances series. It airs Friday, January 13th, 2012 on Thirteen and PBS stations nationally. Paula Zahn recently sat down with Ms. Smith to discuss her unique theatrical exploration of America.
