This week’s question: Films set in Baltimore. The home of the Orioles has come in for lots of commentary in the past few years, both positive and negative. For this question the film has to be set in Baltimore. What’s your favorite Baltimore movie?
Manhunter has at least one scene set in Baltimore, trying to catch the Tooth Fairy Killer in the airport, but Michael Mann’s film is too great to be ignored. Hitchcock’s Marnie also jumps around the Northeast of the US, but ends in Charm City.
This is what Reel 13 host Richard Peña thinks, “David Mamet’s Homicide, probably his finest film, launched the much better known TV series, and both really emphasize their Baltimore locations. And of course, there’s the entire filmography of the great John Waters, including my favorites Female Trouble and Hairspray.”
