CALL FOR ENTRIES: Submit your short film by February 23 to be considered for the 2018 PBS Online Film Festival

February 8, 2018 | Jacqueline Medina

Are you a filmmaker looking to submit your film?

From now until Friday, February 23, when you submit an entry to the REEL 13 short film competition, your film will also be considered for the 2018 PBS Online Film Festival. Now in its seventh year, the festival showcases powerful, introspective, and engaging films from across the country.

The 2018 PBS Online Film Festival will choose under 25 films and award two winners: a People’s Choice prize and a Juried Prize (the former determined by social media engagement; the latter by a panel of distinguished judges).

Fiction or non-fiction, films submitted should be 3-15 minutes in length and showcase great storytelling, with emphasis on originality, quality performances, and technical execution (camera work, sound, lighting, and editing).

The PBS Online Film Festival offers unique and diverse perspectives through stories that do not often get airtime on broadcast television—films that are bold, introspective, challengers to the status quo, focused on underrepresented people and problems that our country faces, and much more.

For inspiration, here are the shorts that competed last year.

Again, films submitted by the deadline of Friday, February 23 will be considered for both REEL 13 as well as the PBS Online Film Fest.

Any questions or concerns can be sent to reel13shorts@thirteen.org.

So what are you waiting for! Submit your short films here.
