Federal forecasters are predicting an above-average hurricane season with as many as 10 hurricanes forming. Three to six of those hurricanes could be major, meaning wind speeds of 111 mph or higher and between 14 to 21 named storms are possible, according to NOAA, which released the outlook about a week before hurricane season begins on June 1. The season runs through November 30.
