Peril and Promise: The Challenge of Climate Change is one of WNET’s Multiplatform Strategic Initiatives reporting on the human stories of climate change and its potential solutions. Executive Producer and Project Director Eugenia Harvey, an award winning producer, showrunner and television executive joins host Tom Stewart to talk about the project. We also hear from Peril and Promises’ Maya Navon about her role as Series Producer.
Peril and Promise began life in 2017. The venture features daily stories designed to provide context, scientifically sound information, and fact-based journalism to audiences across all platforms of public media. In addition it focuses on news of new frontiers of scientific innovation in resilience, mitigation, and clean energy. Special highlights include the national primetime documentary series, Sinking Cities, which delves into the climate threats and solutions facing New York, Tokyo, London and Miami.
Eugenia and Maya and their “tiny but mighty” team produce WNET’s multiplatform initiatives, which in addition to Peril and Promise includes Chasing the Dream, which is concerned with income inequality, poverty and opportunity in America. Coming up later this year will be a new venture that will look at the subject of hatred.
Currently Peril and Promise is releasing a five part digital series called Freedom to Breathe, produced in association with Climate Nexus, which covers climate change along the route of the 1961 Freedom Riders.
