> GOOD EVENING AND WELCOME TO THIS METRO FOCUS SPECIAL EDITION, BEYOND HAMILTON.

WE'LL JOURNEY ACROSS TIME BEHIND THE MUSICAL TO EXPLORE THE LIFE, LOVE AND LEGACY OF OUR NATION'S FOUNDING FATHER, FROM HIS CONTRIBUTIONS TO POLITICS, EDUCATION AND THE GREAT WHITE WAY.

WHICH IS WHERE WE BEGIN TONIGHT.

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS CAN NOW GET A FRONT ROW SEAT TO HISTORY IN THE MAKING.

♪♪

SEVERAL LOW INCOME POPULATION S ARE GETTING TO SEE HAMILTON.

THE INTERACTIVE STUDY CURRICULUM THE STUDENTS LEARN BEFORE ATTENDING THE SHOW.

IT'S ALL PART OF THE SUCCESSFUL HAMILTON EDUCATION PROGRAM THAT'S MAKING HISTORY AS A NEW TRANSFORMATIVE TOOL TO EDUCATE NEW YORK CITY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS.

JOINING ME TO TALK ABOUT THIS MARVELOUS EVENT IS THE PRESIDENT OF THE GUILDED INSTITUTE.

ONE OF THE SCHOOLS CONNECTED TO THE PROGRAM, WELCOME TO THE TWO OF YOU.

I'LL ASK YOU FIRST, HOW DID THIS WONDERFUL IDEA ALL COME ABOUT?

I THINK IT BEGAN IN THE BRAIN OF LIN-MANUEL MIRANDA.

HE'S ALWAYS WANTED STUDENTS TO BE PART OF THIS EXPERIENCE AND FOR THIS SHOW TO REACH LARGE NUMBERS OF STUDENTS.

FROM LIN AND THE PRODUCERS OF THE SHOW, AND THEN ROCKEFELLER, IT ALL CAME TOGETHER IN A BEAUTIFUL WAY.

WE SUPPORT K TO 12 AMERICAN HISTORY TEACHING AND LEARNING IN AMERICAN HISTORY, WE EMPHASIZE DOCUMENT BASED LEARNING IN HISTORY, NOT TEXTBOOKS AND MEMORIZATION, BUT KIDS BEING HISTORIANS AND WORKING WITH PRIMARY SOURCES TO UNDERSTAND HISTORY IN A HANDS ON WAY.

THIS CURRICULUM GREW OUT OF THAT PRINCIPLE WHERE KIDS LONG BEFORE THEY SEE THE SHOW PARAPHRASE IT FOR THEMSELVES AND DO RESEARCH TO CREATE A CHARACTER OR EVENT IN A CREATIVE WAY.

FROM THIS DOCUMENT BASED LEARNING, THEY GO TO CREATIVITY.

THEY DO A SONG OR A RAP PEACE OR POEM OR DRAMATIC SCENE.

THIS IS SO MUCH MORE THAN THE EXPERIENCE -- THEY REALLY DIG IN WHEN THE SHOW HAPPENS.

SOMEBODY WHO HAS TAUGHT FOR SO MANY YEARS AND IS SO INVESTED IN THE LIVES OF THE STUDENTS.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST REACTION WHEN YOU HEARD ABOUT THIS PROGRAM?

I GET CHILLS WHEN I THINK ABOUT IT.

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT STRUCK ME THE MOST WHEN I HEARD ABOUT IT WAS THE INTERACTIVE PEACE, THE FACT THAT HISTORY WAS BEING MADE FOR STUDENTS.

NOT AS A RESULT OF THE TEXTBOOK.

THE BEAUTY OF THE CURRICULUM IS THAT IT SIDE BY SIDE WITH LIN-MANUEL MIRANDA'S WORDS WERE RON'S WORDS.

THE STUDENTS WERE ABLE TO SEE THIS IS IT HOW IT WAS WRITTEN, THIS IS HOW LIN-MANUEL INTERPRETED IT, THIS IS HOW I CAN INTERPRET IT.

THERE WAS A PROGRESSION ON WHAT WAS SPOKEN ABOUT IN HISTORY CLASS TO WHAT I SAID.

THE RUBRIC THAT IS ATTACHED TO THE CURRICULUM HAS HISTORY AS ART AS ONE OF THE MEASURES.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT?

JUST AS JIM WAS TALKING ABOUT, I CAN PERFORM HISTORICALLY, I CAN BE PART OF HISTORY WITH MY PER 230R78 ANSWER.

I'M GOING TO BE MEASURED BY THAT.

NOT JUST, DO I KNOW THE DATES?

GIVE ME AN IDEA OF SOME OF THE THINGS YOUR STUDENTS DID HERE AS PART OF THIS CURRICULUM THAT THE GROUP PUT TOGETHER.

A NUMBER OF OUR STUDENTS AUDITIONED, IF YOU WILL, TO PERFORM ON STAGE AND THE FACULTY ACTED AS THE PANEL OF JUDGES, WE HAD AUDITIONS, CALL BACKS, WE REPLICATED THE THEATER PROCESS FOR THEM IN SCHOOL.

THEY EACH HAD TO COME UP WITH THEIR OWN CREATIVE IDEA.

SOMEONE DID A MONOLOGUE ON COMMON SENSE.

THE TWO STUDENTS THAT WERE CHOSEN DID THE WHISKEY REBELLION FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF THE FARMERS.

OFTEN TIMES I WONDER WHY IT IS OUR STUDENTS ARE NOT AS FAMILIAR WITH HISTORY AS YOU WOULD EXPECT THEY MIGHT BE.

WHY DO YOU THINK THAT IS IN.

WELL, YOU KNOW, WE WORK WITH K TO 12 SCHOOLS ACROSS THE COUNTRY 37 WE SEE A LOT OF THIS DEFINING MISSION, TO MAKE HISTORY MEANINGFUL AND ENGAGING.

AND THE FOUNDING ERA, BARBARA MAY OR MAY NOT AGREE, IT'S BEEN THE CASTER OIL OF HISTORY.

TAKE IT BECAUSE IT'S GOOD FOR YOU.

YOU NEED TO KNOW.

YOU MAY NOT WANT TO KNOW, BUT YOU NEED TO KNOW.

KIDS ARE ACTIVE LEARNERS, THEY'RE PART OF THE CREATIVE PROCESS, AND WE'VE SEEN KIDS BECOME INVESTED REALLY IN A KIND OF POSITIVE WAY.

WE'VE SEEN PEOPLE BE PHYLLIS WHEATLEY OR ONE OF THE BLACK CHILDREN OF THOMAS JEFFERSON, AND GIVING VOICE.

ENTERING INTO THESE FIGURES IMAGINATIVELY, AND SORT OF TAKING OWNERSHIP IN A WAY I'VE NEVER SEEN STUDENTS DO BEFORE.

HAMILTON WAS THE ONLY DELEGATE FROM NEW YORK.

KNOWING HE DID THIS AND HE DID THAT, AND THE WORLD IS THE WAY IT IS.

PROVIDING SUCH A WONDERFUL SENSE OF EMPOWERMENT.

THE WORK THAT THEY'RE DOING, AND BARBARA McKUHN, FOR YOU, WE NEED GREAT TEACHERS AND YOU ARE ONE, AND WE'RE GLAD YOU'RE ABLE TO EXPERIENCE THIS WITH YOUR STUDENTS.

THANK YOU BOTH SO MUCH FOR SPENDING TIME WITH US.

THANK YOU, JACK.

BE WELL.

ONE OF THE MOST POIGNANT MOMENTS COMES WHEN HAMILTON'S WIDOW SINGS THAT HER PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT WAS STARTING THE FIRST PRIVATE ORPHANAGE IN NEW YORK CITY IN HONOR OF HER HUSBAND.

HER PROUDEST ACHIEVEMENT LIVES ON AS THE ORPHANAGE SHE CO FOUNDED HAS CHANGED INTO A FAMILY FACILITY.

PROVIDING THEM WITH EDUCATIONAL HEALTH, COUNSELING AND OTHER SERVICES.

JOINING ME TO TALK ABOUT HOW HER CHARITY IS HELPING KIDS GET THEIR SHOT IS JESS WINDHOUSER.

THANK YOU FOR HAVING ME.

HOW EXACTLY DID ELIZA HAMILTON FOUND THIS ORPHANAGE?

AND HOW DID IT INVOLVE INTO THE INSTITUTION THAT IT IS TODAY?

SO 211 YEARS AGO.

THAT'S A LONG TIME.

NOTHING -- THE CITY DIDN'T LOOK LIKE IT DOES TODAY.

ELIZA HAMILTON AND TWO OTHER WOMEN STARTED THE ORPHAN ASYLUM SOCIETY OUT OF A REAL CONVICTION THAT CHILDREN WHO HAD BEEN PUT IN DANGER OR DIDN'T HAVE SAFETY AROUND THEM, NEEDED TO BE CARED FOR, AND THEY HAD EXTRAORDINARY VALUE.

HOW WERE THESE KIDS TAKEN CARE OF BEFORE THIS, IN NEW YORK CITY.

I THINK A LOT OF KIDS BACK THEN DIDN'T HAVE WHAT THEY NEEDED.

A LOT OF KIDS DID GROW UP IN THE STREETS OR BOUNCING FROM TENEMENT TO TENEMENT.

THEY STARTED THE FIRST PRIVATE ORPHANAGE IN NEW YORK CITY.

AND THAT BEGAN TO GROW.

AND AS YOU COME TO ONE OF OUR SITES, AS YOU CAN SEE 100 YORES AGO, THE ABSOLUTE CARE THEY PUT INTO THESE FACILITIES.

THE BEAUTIFULLY MADE FACILITIES THAT STILL STAND TODAY.

THEY NEVER GREW THE ORGANIZATION TO HAVE A HUGE ENDOWMENT OR BE AN ORGANIZATION THAT WAS A SOCIETY ORGANIZATION, THEY PUT EVERY DOLLAR THEY HAD INTO OUR KIDS.

AND THEY EVEN SAID IN ONE OF THE ARCHIVES, THAT NO MATTER THERE WAS A DIME IN THE TREASURY OR NOT, THEY WOULD NEVER TURN A CHILD AWAY.

THAT CONVICTION, THAT WE'RE HERE TO SERVE THE KIDS THAT NEED US MOST ANIMATES US TODAY.

YOU ESTABLISHED A REAL CLOSE CONNECTION TO THE BROADWAY HIT MUSICAL HAMILTON.

HOW DID THAT RELATIONSHIP BEGIN?

SERENDIPITY.

WE WERE JUST STARTING OUT IN OUR SOCIAL MEDIA TRYING TO GET THE WORD OUT ABOUT WHAT WE DO, AND HOW EXTRAORDINARY OUR KIDS AND FAMILIES ARE.

LUCKILY ENOUGH, WE CAME ACROSS LIN-MANUEL MIRANDA.

HE QUIETLY GAVE A GIFT.

HE LEFT HIS NUMBER AS ONE MIGHT DO AS THEY'RE LEAVING A DONATION ONLINING FOR A ORGANIZATION WE COLLECT.

WE CALLED HIM TO THANK HIM, AND THE PLAY WASN'T OUT YET, THE MUSICAL WASN'T OUT YET, WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE THE END, YOU'RE GOING TO BE BLOW AWAY.

WE DID, AND WE GOT TO SEE IT AT THE PUBLIC AND I MET HIM AFTER.

SHE WAS THE ORIGINAL ELIZA IN.

THAT'S RIGHT.

THE HAMILTON FAMILY HAS EMBRACED.

WHAT'S BEEN THE OVERALL IMPACT ON YOUR INSTITUTION?

IT'S RAISED HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS.

IT'S HAD OPPORTUNITY DIRECTLY FOR SOME OF OUR KIDS, THEY BROUGHT OUR KIDS IN TO DO WORKSHOPS, EVERYTHING FROM DANCE TO DOING PERFORMANCES, THEY REALLY DEEPLY BECOME PART OF THE COMMUNITY AND WE COULDN'T BE MORE GRATEFUL.

GIVE US SOME CONCRETE EXAMPLES OF YOUR FAMILIAR PROGRAMS.

PARENTS WHO HAVE TOUGH STARTS THEMSELVES, WHO NEED OUR HELP TO SUPPORT THEM TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY CAN RAISE THEIR CHILDREN SAFELY AND WELL, WE DO A LOT OF IN HOME FAMILY THERAPIES, WHERE WE MEET WITH FAMILIES WHO ARE STRUGGLING, TO HELP THEM PUT THINGS BACK TOGETHER AND GET THEMSELVES ON A PATH.

WE WORK WITH YOUNG PEOPLE AFTER SCHOOL IN OUR COMMUNITY CENTERS, WE DO FOSTER CARE, WHERE WE HAVE CHILDREN WHOSE PARENTS CAN'T CURRENTLY TAKE CARE OF THEM.

WE WORK EXTREMELY HARD.

WE'RE ONE OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL AGENCIES IN THE CITY IN GETTING CHILDREN HOME SAFELY.

OUR JOB IS TO MAKE SURE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF OUR CHILDREN HAS A LOVING FAMILY.

AND THEN WHAT WE DO, WE WRAP A COMMUNITY AROUND THEM SO THE DAY THEY GO HOME, ISN'T THE LAST DAY THEY'RE PART OF THE COMMUNITY.

WHAT WE'RE ABLE TO DO IS COACH KIDS UNTIL THEY'RE 25.

THE SYSTEM STOPS AT 21.

WE KNOW THOSE YEARS.

WHEN THEY CAN'T FIND -- THE TEACHER LEFT SOMETHING OFF THE SILL BUS, AND THEY FEEL EVERYONE HAS RESOURCES AT THE SCHOOL THAT THEY DON'T.

WE ARE THERE TO CONVINCE THEM TO STICK IT OUT.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR JOINING US.

BY THE WAY, PEOPLE CAN VOLUNTEER TO WORK.

WE WELCOME -- WE HAVE MANY, MANY NEW YORKERS WHO ARE SUPPORTING US AND INSTITUTIONS, WE LOVE ANYONE ELSE WHO CAN JOIN US.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

THE REVOLUTION AND BLOCKBUSTER SUCCESS OF HAMILTON HAS ELEVATED OUR NATION'S FIRST TREASURY SECRETARY TO THE STATUS OF POP CULTURE ICON.

THE CARIBBEAN BORN FOUNDING FATHER IS CELEBRATED HERE IN MANHATTAN.

SOME OF THE MORE IMPORTANT EVENTS TOOK PLACE JUST NORTH OF THE CITY IN THE STATE CAPITAL.

A FASCINATING LOOK AT ONE OF OUR FOUNDING FATHERS IN A NEW DOCUMENTARY.

TAKE A LOOK.

FROM FOUNDING FATHER TO GROUNDING ICON.

ALEXANDER HAMILTON WAS A POLITICAL GENIUS WHO HELPED SHAPE OUR GOVERNMENT, OFTEN REMEMBERED FOR HIS LIFE BEING CUT SHORT IN A DUAL WITH AARON BURR.

JOIN ME AS WE EXPLORE THE FEUD THAT FUELED THE DUAL.

JOINING ME NOW, THE HISTORIC SITE MANAGER AT THE MANSION.

WELCOME TO THE SHOW.

THANK YOU, JENNA.

IN THE MUSICAL, WE'RE INTRODUCED TO THE SKYLAR SISTERS AS THE DAUGHTERS OF THIS WEALTHY INFLUENTIAL MAN, GENERAL FROM THE CAPITAL REGION IN NEW YORK.

THE SKYLAR FAMILY HAS AN IMPACT.

I MEAN, WE HAVE SKYLAR COUNTY, SKYLARVILLE, THERE'S A STATUE OF THE GENERAL IN ALBANY.

WHO ARE THE SKYLARS, AND WHAT ROLE DID THEY PLAY IN NEW YORK GOING FROM A COLONY TO A STATE IN.

THEY FIRST LANDED ON THE SHORES HERE IN 1650s AND THEY WERE REALLY DESCENDED FROM CARPENTERS AND BAKERS AND MADE THEIR FORTUNE IN THE FUR TRADE IN THE 17th CENTURY.

THERE WERE ALL SORTS OF FIRST COMING OUT OF THE INTERIOR, AND THE INTERIOR WAS BASED AT FT.

ORANGE IN ALBANY, THIS IS WHERE THE SKYLAR'S WERE BASED AS WELL.

THEY WERE REALLY POISED IN THE PERFECT POSITION TO THE INTERIOR WEST, ALONG THE MOHAWK RIVER AND THE HUDSON, CONNECTED TO THE ATLANTAIC, AND BECAME VERY WEALTHY LAND HOLDERS, VERY EARLY.

IT WOULD REALLY HAVE BEHOOVED ALEXANDER HAMILTON TO HAVE ATTACHED HIMSELF AND MARRIED INTO THE SKYLAR FAMILY.

WHAT ROLE DID THEY PLAY IN HIS ABILITY TO BECOME THE SUCCESS THAT HE WAS.

CERTAINLY THE SKYLAR'S WERE ONE OF THE LEADING FAMILY IN THE HUDSON VALLEY.

SKYLAR WAS KNOWN WHEN HE FIRST ARRIVED.

SKYLAR BECOMES ONE OF THE MAJOR GENERALS, ONE OF FOUR MAJOR GENERALS UNDER GEORGE WASHINGTON DURING THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR, AND BECAUSE HAMILTON IS REALLY KNOWN AS THIS GENIUS AND HE'S SOUGHT AFTER BY MONEY, WASHINGTON BRINGS HIM INTO THE FOLD AND HAMILTON BECOMES ONE OF HIS FAVORITE OFFICERS.

BECAUSE OF HAMILTON'S RELATIONSHIP WITH WASHINGTON.

MAY HAVE BEEN FIRST INTRODUCED TO THEM IN ALBANY IN 1777, AND LATER MEETS ELIZABETH IN 1780 IN NEW JERSEY AT THE WINTER HEADQUARTERS.

GIVEN THE FACT THAT THERE'S BEEN SO MUCH ENTHUSIASM ABOUT THE MUSICAL AND INTEREST NOW, AND THE LIFE OF ALEXANDER HAMILTON.

HAS THERE BEEN AN INCREASE IN THE SKYLAR MANSION?

THERE'S BEEN A HUGE INCREASE.

NOW WE SEE ABOUT 17,000,000 A YEAR.

WE HAVE AN INTERACTIVE EXPERIENCE FOR THE VISITORS.

THE QUOTES FROM THE FAMILY, IT'S REALLY A FUN WAY TO LEARN HISTORY.

SPEAKING OF SOME OF THOSE QUOTES.

THE MUSIC ALLUDES TO THE FACT THAT THERE WAS A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ALEXANDER HAMILTON --

18th CENTURY EDUCATION, IF YOU LOVE SOMEONE, YOU LET THEM KNOW.

YOU REALLY HAD THAT PLAY OUT IN LETTERS.

YOU CAN SEE HIS LETTERS FROM SKYLAR TO HIS SON IN LAW.

IT'S NOT ODD THAT ANGELICA AND HAMILTON ARE SHARING LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHER.

IT'S JUST REALLY A FLAIR FOR WRITING IN THE 18th CENTURY.

IT'S THE DIFFERENCE IN RELEARNING HOW TO UNDERSTAND THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE.

THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO TALK TO US.

HE IS BROADWAY'S MUSIC MAN.

HAMILTON AND DEAR EVAN HANSON.

MUSIC DIRECTOR MUSIC SUPERVISOR COMPOSER AND MUSICIAN ALEX IS HERE WITH US.

THIS GRAMMY AWARD WINNING PRODUCER HAS BEEN TURNING OUT CHART TOPPING HITS FOR YEARS.

HERE'S A SAMPLE.

♪♪

WHILE HIS ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND TALENTED MUSICAL ARRANGEMENTS HAVE BEEN HONORED AND WELL KNOWN FOR YEARS.

A LESSON IN BACK STORY, HOW HE ATTRIBUTES THAT AS AN ASSET TO ALL OF HIS SUCCESSES.

IT'S NICE TO HAVE YOU WITH US.

THANKS FOR HAVING ME.

YOU WORK AND THEY -- I SAW YOU WERE PLAYING PIANO AT THE AGE OF FOUR.

HOW DID THAT GET DISCOVERED.

I THINK THE WAY TO DISCOVER IT IS, MY MOM REALIZED, SHE WAS LIKE, OKAY.

THIS IS NOT HEARING ANYTHING.

A NORMAL AVERAGE HEARING CHART SHOWS LIKE THIS, MY STARTS LOWER AND GOES UP.

THINGS SOUND MORE MUFFLED TO ME, IS ONE WAY TO DESCRIBE IT.

I HAD A VERY ISOLATED AND TUNNEL VISION FOCUS.

FOR ME, THAT FOCUS APPLIED TO -- I THINK IT ALLOWS ME TO OBSESS AND FASCINATE AND TAKE THINGS APART, AND GET INTO THE FINER DETAILS OF THINGS.

HOW DOES THAT TIE INTO YOU AND YOUR HEARING.

I THINK WHAT IT IS IS THAT THERE'S A CURIOUS PART ABOUT IN MY MIND THAT LOOKS AT A MATH EQUATION OR PUZZLE OR SOME KIND OF STRUCTURE, IF YOU WILL I THINK THE FACT THAT I CAN LOOK AT IT, MUSIC IS AN ORAL SENSATION, IT'S VERY VISUAL TO ME.

THE LACK OF THE HEARING ALLOWED ME TO MAKE MUSIC A SITE THING.

WHATEVER REASON IT IS, IT ALLOWED ME TO EXPRESS MYSELF AND OBSESS OVER MUSIC IN THE RIGHT WAY.

TELL ME ABOUT YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH LIN-MANUEL, HOW DID IT GET STARTED AND WHAT ARE YOU EACH PROVIDING TO THE OTHER.

WE MET THROUGH MUTUAL FRIEND S WHO THOUGHT WE WOULD MAKE A GOOD PAIRING.

WE JUST HIT IT OFF RIGHT AWAY.

LIN IS THE PERSONA THAT HE SEEMS TO BE.

THAT'S NICE WHEN YOU SEE SOMEONE WHO'S TRULY GENUINE.

HE'S A FAN OF ART, OF THE WORLD, OF PEOPLE, HE'S SO NICE AND OPEN, AND HE'S VERY INCLUSIVE IN WHAT IT IS THAT HE DOES.

US HAVING A MUSICAL BACKGROUND, A LATINO BACKGROUND, A LOVE OF THEATER, ALL OF THOSE THINGS HAS MERGED, AND IT WAS ONE OF THOSE SPECIAL CHEMICAL BONDS THAT HAVE REALLY BEEN ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF MY LIFE.

WHICH I'M THANKFUL FOR.

IN TERMS OF THE WAY WE WORK TOGETHER.

IT'S WONDERFUL THAT HE TRUSTS ME.

LIN DOESN'T WRITE ANYTHING DOWN, HE ALLOWS A LOT OF ROOM FOR THINGS TO BE INTERPRETED BY THE ACTORS BY THE MUSICIANS, BY ME, WHATEVER IT IS.

IT'S GREAT THAT HE KNOWS THAT THE POWER AND HIS MUSIC IS SO STRONG, WHATEVER YOU ADD TO IT, IT'S GOING TO ENHANCE THE SONG AND MAKE IT BETTER THAN --

WHEN YOU SAY HE DOESN'T WRITE ANYTHING DOWN, WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT?

THE IMAGE WHEN YOU WATCH MOVIES OR TELEVISION SHOWS.

THEY'RE SITTING IN FRONT OF THE PIANO, AND THEY'RE WRITING AS THEY GO DOWN.

IS THAT NOT THE WAY HE WORKS AND YOU WORK WITH HIM?

EVERYBODY HAS THEIR OWN METHOD.

TO SAY HE DOESN'T WRITE ANYTHING DOWN MEANS HE DOESN'T GET A PENCIL.

THIS IS A C, AND THIS IS A G.

ET CETERA, ET CETERA.

HIS METHOD IS USING THE COMPUTER.

WHETHER IT'S TYPING OUT HIS LYRICS.

OPENING A MUSIC SOFTWARE, WHERE HE CAN RECORD A PIANO PART AND A BASE PART, HE STRUCTURES IT THAT WAY AND BUILDS IT DIGITALLY SPEAKING.

AND THEN IT GOES TO ME, AND I FIND WAYS TO GET IT NOTATED.

WHETHER IT'S ME WITH THE PAPER, WHETHER IT'S HANDING OUT THAT WORK TO ASSISTANTS AND THEY DO THAT, THAT'S THE ACTUAL ACT OF NOTATING THE MUSIC.

ALL THE TECHNOLOGY.

WHAT WAS THE GERSHWIN THING.

JUST TO KNOW, YOU WANT TO CHANGE A KEY FOR SONG, YOU HIT A BUTTON.

YOUR MUSIC IS FABULOUS.

YOU BROUGHT TO ALL OF US WHO WATCH YOUR SHOWS, IT'S A GREAT JOY.

AND IT'S BEEN A DELIGHT TO CHAT WITH YOU.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR HAVING ME.

THANKS FOR SPENDING TIME WITH US.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

A REMINDER FOR YOU, DEAR EVAN HANSON IS PLAYING, AND HAMILTON IS AT THE RICHARD ROGERS THEATER.

SEE THEM BOTH IF YOU CAN.
