Approximately one in seven people in New York suffer from addiction, yet only ten percent receive help. Why? We continue our New York’s Opioid Crisis coverage in partnership with the state’s Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services. In a special report by “MetroFocus” from a documentary produced by NYS OASAS, journalist Laurie Dhue, herself in long-term recovery, takes us across the state to talk to our neighbors, co-workers, and in some cases our friends and family who are in varying stages of recovery. They all offer a reminder that addiction isn’t a choice. We also have information about resources for those who need to get help now.
