>> FROM THE BROADWAY STAGE TO
THE BIG SCREEN TO YOUR
HEADPHONES, WHAT IS IT THERE
THAT NOAH GALVIN CAN'T DO?
HE'S ONE OF THE BREAKOUT STARS
IN OLIVIA WILD'S BREAKOUT MOVIE,
BOOK SMART.
HE'S CURRENTLY ON BROADWAY IN
WAITRESS.
HIS LATEST PROJECT IS GIMLET
MEDIA'S SCRIPTED PODCAST CALLED
"THE TWO PRINCES."
THIS FAIRYTALE FOLLOWS TWO
PRINCES AND A MODERN LOVE STORY
THAT CELEBRATES THE LGBTQ
COMMUNITY.
AND WE'RE DELIGHTED TO HAVE HIM
JOINING US HERE NOW TO TALK
ABOUT IT.
>> THANK YOU FOR HAVING ME.
>> AS YOU CAN TELL -- THIS IS
WHAT I WANT TO TALK ABOUT, BUT I
WANT TO START WITH THE PODCAST.
GIVE FOLKS A SENSE FOR THE
CHARACTERS IN THE STORY.
>> IT'S GIMLET'S FIRST LGBT
FOCUSED PODCAST.
WHICH IS VERY COOL.
IT BEING PRIDE MONTH, YOU KNOW,
SPECIAL.
>> PERFECT TIMING.
>> PERFECT TIMING.
YES.
SO IT'S ABOUT MY CHARACTER,
PRINCE RUPPERT.
THERE'S A CURSE THAT IS
SPREADING THROUGHOUT THE
KINGDOM.
THE KINGDOM HAS BEEN DIVIDED
EAST AND WEST.
AND, YEAH, IT'S ABOUT RUPERT'S
JOURNEY IN TRYING TO REMEDY THE
CURSE.
>> IT'S VERY FUNNY.
>> THANK YOU.
>> I'M LISTENING TO IT -- AGAIN,
SOMETIMES YOU THINK A PODCAST,
TALK RADIO.
TALK RADIO IS NOT NECESSARILY
FUNNY.
>> BORING.
>> CAN BE BORING.
BUT THIS -- WHEN YOU LISTEN TO
THIS, YOU KIND OF GIGGLE THROUGH
THINGS.
YOU'RE FOLLOWING THIS JOURNEY OF
THE PRINCES.
ARIAL AND --
>> SO MANY AMAZING, AMAZING
ACTORS.
LAURA BONANTE.
>> A FREQUENT GUEST WITH US
HERE.
ARIAL HAS BEEN ON WITH US.
I WAS LISTENING SAYING THESE ARE
ALL OF OUR "METROFOCUS" FOLKS
JOINING.
>> GOOD PEOPLE.
>> WHAT WAS IT THAT GRABBED YOUR
ATTENTION?
YOU HAVE A LOT GOING ON NOW.
>> THAT VERY THING.
THE IDEA THAT I WANTED TO
TAKE -- KEVIN CHRISTOPHER SNIPES
OUR WRITER WANTED TO TAKE A
FAMILIAR FORMAT, A FAMILIAR
FORMULA OF FAIRYTALE LOVE STORY,
YOU KNOW, WHICH NORMALLY WOULD
BE ABOUT A PRINCE AND A PRINCESS
OR A KING AND A QUEEN.
SUBVERT IT, TURN IT ON ITS HEAD
AND MAKE IT ABOUT TWO PRINCES.
I'M ALL ABOUT AUTHENTIC LGBT
REPRESENTATION, BEING AN OUT GAY
ACTOR MYSELF.
YOU KNOW, IT'S IMPORTANT FOR ME
TO BE A PART OF THESE THINGS.
>> I LISTENED TO SOME.
THEY'RE DOING WHAT YOU WANT THEM
TO DO.
>> YEAH.
>> THEY'RE ENTERTAINING, WHICH
IS ONE.
THEY'RE THOUGHTFUL.
>> YEAH.
>> THEY'RE PROVOCATIVE.
THEY MAKE YOU LAUGH.
THAT'S A PRETTY GOOD RECIPE.
>> WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED?
>> SPEAKING OF WHAT ELSE DO YOU
NEED, LET'S TALK ABOUT BOOK
SMART.
YOUR CHARACTER GEORGE, TELL ME
ABOUT GEORGE.
>> YEAH.
GEORGE IS SORT OF -- I LIKE TO
SAY IF I WERE TO LEAN IN TO
EVERY EVIL -- LIKE DIABOLICAL
TENDENCY, ARTISTIC HE TENDENCY I
HAVE, I THINK I WOULD BE MORE
LIKE GEORGE.
>> YOU WOULD BE GEORGE.
>> YEAH.
>> I'M SURE YOUR FRIENDS AND
FAMILY ARE SAYING WE'RE GLAD HE
DOESN'T LEAN INTO THAT.
>> VERY MUCH SO.
>> INTERESTINGLY I SAW THAT
GEORGE WAS SORT OF SO WELL
RECEIVED IN THE FILMING THEY
ACTUALLY ADDED SOME MORE SCENES
FOR YOU?
>> YEAH.
GEORGE WAS ORIGINALLY JUST IN A
COUPLE OF SCENES.
AND OLIVIA WYLDE AND OUR WRITER
THOUGHT IT WAS REALLY FUNNY.
SO THEY KEPT PUTTING ME IN
SCENES.
IT WAS LIKE AN INSIDE JOKE
BETWEEN OLIVIA, KATIE AND ME
THAT THEY THOUGHT IT WAS FUNNY
BUT NOBODY ELSE DID.
AT THE END OF THE DAY THEY CUT
THE MOVIE, SO, I ENDED UP IN A
LOT OF IT WHICH WAS COOL AND
SPECIAL.
>> TALK ABOUT WORKING WITH
OL
OL
OLIVIA WYLDE.
HER FIRST TIME BEHIND THE
CAMERA.
>> SHE'S MARVELOUS ACTRESS.
AND BEYOND THAT SHE IS A
MARVELOUS, MARVELOUS DIRECTOR.
SHE WAS ABLE TO CREATE A REALLY
LOVELY SAFE SPACE FOR ALL OF US
ACTORS TO EXPLORE AND MESS UP
AND --
>> WHY IS THAT SO IMPORTANT TO
YOU?
A LOT OF PEOPLE WOULD HAVE AN
IMAGE SAY SAY YOUR WORDS, TURN
THIS WAY, TURN THAT WAY.
>> IT CAN FEEL VERY ROBOTIC,
THERE'S NOTHING NATURAL ABOUT
OFTENTIMES -- SOMETIMES YOU
CAN'T EVEN ACT ACROSS FROM A
PERSON BECAUSE THERE'S TOO MUCH
CAMERA EQUIPMENT IN THE WAY.
THERE'S NOTHING NATURAL ABOUT
ACTING OFF A PIECE OF TAPE.
A PIECE OF TAPE WILL GIVE YOU
NOTHING.
SO IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT FOR A
DIRECT TOREOR TO CREATE A SPACE
WHICH THE ACTORS FEEL LIKE
PEOPLE.
>> I MENTIONED WAITRESS.
>> YES.
>> AFTER COMING OFF A GREAT RUN
FROM DEAR EVAN HANSON.
>> YES.
>> DO YOU HAVE A NEXT PROJECT?
I DON'T KNOW HOW YOU HAVE TIME
TO DO THOSE.
>> RIGHT NOW, THIS IS SORT OF
THE NEXT PROJECT.
RIGHT NOW I'M SORT OF -- AFTER
ALL THE LIKE -- AFTER ALL THE
HULLABALOO DIES DOWN AROUND THE
MOVIE, THE PODCAST, I'M EXCITED
TO JUST SETTLE INTO WAITRESS A
LITTLE BIT.
FOR THAT TO JUST BE MY ONE JOB
FOR A LITTLE WHILE.
>> A LITTLE WHILE ANY WAY.
WE LOOK FORWARD TO GETTING YOU
BACK IN HERE WHEN YOU GET INTO A
NEXT JOB.
THE PODCAST IS MARVELOUS.
>> THANK YOU.
I'M EXCITED FOR PEOPLE TO LISTEN
TO IT.
>> I THINK THEY'LL TRULY ENJOY
IT.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR JOINING
US.
>> THANKS FOR HAVING ME.
>> WE'LL HAVE YOU IN FOR
WHATEVER THAT NEXT PROJECT IS.
