FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO HEAR MORE FROM ERIC BERGEN, HE HAS AN UPCOMING CONCERT SEPTEMBER 30th AT NEW YORK CITY HALL, AND WE'RE GLAD TO WELCOME THE TALENTED MUSICIAN/ACTOR ERIC BERGEN AT 'METROFOCUS.'

IT'S SO NICE TO SEE YOU, IN PERSON, I'VE SEEN YOU IN A VARIETY OF THINGS, INCLUDING THE FILM, YOU AND I WERE TALKING BEFORE, AND HOW WHEN I WAS A YOUNG KID, THEY WOULD PERFORM IN PLEASANT BEACH.

WE'D HIDE OUT UNDERNEATH THE BOARDWALK AND LISTEN AND SAY HOW COOL IS THIS.

IT'S VERY COOL.

YOU DON'T.

IT'S A LOT MORE EXPENSIVE TO SEE JERSEY BOYS NOW THAN THEN.

I'M SURE IT WAS.

THERE'S SO MUCH TO TALK ABOUT BECAUSE YOU DO SO MUCH, AND WELL, EXTRAORDINARILY WELL.

WHAT WAS YOUR DAY TODAY?

YOU STARTED AT 5:00 THIS MORNING.

YES, WELL, YESTERDAY WAS EVEN MORE WILD.

YESTERDAY WAS GETTING UP AT 5:00 A.M., GOING TO BROOKLYN TO FILM MADAM SECRETARY, THEN GOING TO DO A MATINEE OF WAITRESS, HAVING PHYSICAL THERAPY AND DOING AN EVENING SHOW OF WAITRESS, AND ALL THE WHILE I'M MOVING RIGHT NOW.

I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER, AND I COULDN'T BE MORE GRATEFUL, BUT I'M A LITTLE TIRED.

WHAT A SLACKER.

LET'S TALK ABOUT 'WAITRESS.'

YOU WANTED TO -- YOU'VE BEEN INVOLVED IN MUSICAL THEATER FOR SO MUCH OF YOUR LIFE.

YES.

ONE OF THE THINGS I FIND CURIOUS IS WHEN ACTORS ARE ASKED ABILITY WHAT'S DIFFERENT FROM ACTING ON TELEVISION AND ON BROADWAY?

I WAS LOOKING AT AN INTERVIEW, AND SOMEBODY ASKED YOU ABOUT WHAT'S THE HARDEST THING ABOUT 'WAITRESS'? I'M EXPECTING SOMETHING ABOUT DEALING WITH THE AUDIENCE OR HOW YOU ENUNCIATE OR SOMETHING.

AND YOUR ANSWER WAS SOMETHING ABOUT A MUFFIN.

TELL ME THAT STORY.

YOU KNOW, THIS IS A SHOW THAT HAS A LOT OF BAKING IN THE SHOW, AND THERE'S A LOT OF PIES AND THINGS.

AND THERE IS A MOMENT IN THE SHOW WHEN I HAVE TO TAKE A FEW BITES OUT OF THIS MUFFIN.

AND I'M SO IN LOVE WITH THIS THING THAT JENNA HAS BAKED THAT I TAKE THESE GARGANTUAN BITES.

WHEN YOU GET CLOSER TO THE END OF THE WEEK, BECAUSE THEY PRE-BUY THE MUFFINS, THE PROP MUFFINS EARLIER IN THE WEEK, THEY TEND TO GET A LITTLE LESS MOIST.

THEY'RE NOT THAT BAD, BUT THERE'S A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TUESDAY MUFFIN AND THE SUNDAY MUFFIN.

LET'S PUT IT THAT WAY.

THEN I HAVE TO SING THIS REALLY HARD SONG RIGHT AFTER IT.

IT IS LIKE -- IT'S LIKE SINGING IN LAS VEGAS AGAIN.

I'VE GOT DESERT THROAT, BUT IT'S MUFFIN THROAT.

LET ME JUMP TO MADAM SECRETARY.

FIFTH SEASON, GETTING STARTED.

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?

NOWADAYS, BROADCAST TELEVISION, GETTING TO A FIFTH SEASON IS A MAGNIFICENT ACCOMPLISHMENT.

IT'S WILD, IT'S WILD.

DID YOU KNOW -- FIRST OF ALL, I HAVE AN INTERESTING THOUGHT.

I KNOW THAT SO MANY OF THE PERFORMERS, AND I HAD INTERVIEWED BEE BEE NEWWORTH HERE.

SHE AND I TALKED ABOUT HOW MANY ACTORS ARE LIKE YOU, MUSICAL THEATER.

I

IT'S FILLED WITH THEATER PEOPLE.

BUT HEROES OF MINE COME IN AS GUEST STARS.

I GET THE CALL SHEET -- I WAITED OUTSIDE A STAGE DOOR FOR YOU WHEN I WAS 11 YEARS OLD TO GET YOUR AUTO GRAPH.

STARS, THE PREMIERE, SEASON PREMIERE, OCTOBER 7th, I BELIEVE.

THREE FORMER ACTUAL SECRETARIES OF STATE.

WE DO.

COLIN POWELL, HILLARY CLINTON AND MADELINE ALLBRIGHT.

THEY WERE GREAT.

THEY'RE ALL FANS OF THE SHOW.

IT WAS FUNNY WATCHING THEM IMPROV CERTAIN THINGS.

THAEL REALLY, REALLY GOOD.

ANY OF THEM SING AND DANCE WITH YOU?

NO, THERE WERE PLENTY OF SECRET SERVICE AROUND.

THEY WERE GREAT, COULDN'T HAVE BEEN KINDER AND WE HAD SOME GREAT DISCUSSIONS ABOUT THE SHOW AND OUR CURRENT STATE OF OUR COUNTRY.

SO IT WAS REALLY INTERESTING, REALLY INTERESTING DAY.

NEXT QUESTION FOR YOU IS TELL ME ABOUT THE CONCERT COMING UP.

WELL, MY NEW MUSIC COMES OUT NEXT MONTH.

RELEASING --

BECAUSE YOU HAVE SO MUCH FREE TIME.

WELL, EXACTLY.

I'M RELEASING SINGLES THROUGHOUT THE REST OF THIS YEAR, STARTING IN SEPTEMBER, AND WE'RE GOING TO BE PREMIERING A LOT OF THE NEW MUSIC ON SEPTEMBER 30th IN THIS BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL NEW ROOM.

IT'S A VERY OLD ROOM, BUT IT'S BEEN REDONE, SONY HALL ACROSS THE STREET FROM HAMILTON.

WE'RE GOING TO BE DOING MUSIC FROM JERSEY BOYS AND WAITRESS AND SOME SURPRISE GUESTS.

IT WILL BE REALLY EXCITING.

IT WILL BE FABULOUS.

IT'S BEEN A PLEASURE.

I'VE BEEN A FAN OF A LOT OF THINGS YOU DO.

IT'S NICE WHEN YOU GET A CHANCE TO TALK TO SOMEBODY WHO IS ACTUALLY AS NICE AS THEY APPEAR TO BE.

NOT ALWAYS THE CASE, BUT IT IS NICE.

BUT CONGRATULATIONS ON EVERYTHING YOU'RE DOING.

IT'S A PLEASURE.

YOU BE WELL.

LOOK FORWARD TO TALKING TO YOU AGAIN SOON.

A REMINDER FOR ALL OF YOU TO SEE MORE OF ERIC BERGEN.

HE'LL BE STARRING IN 'WAITRESS' UNTIL AUGUST 12th.

AND SEE HIM ON 'MADAM SECRETARY' ON OCTOBER 7th ON CBS.
