In recent years tensions between the police and the public in the U.S. have escalated. “The Force,” offers a look at the Oakland Police Department, one of the country’s most embattled police forces, during efforts at major reform after decades of troubled community relations. Filmmaker Peter Nicks brings us inside the Oakland PD’s efforts to rebuild its image as it continues to face challenges and scandal.
