June 8, 2016: Norman Seabrook. Primary Recap. Megan Hilty.

June 09, 2016 at 5:30 am

Tonight, the FBI has arrested powerful union leader Norman Seabrook, longtime president of the Correction Officers’ Benevolent Association, on corruption charges for allegedly receiving kickbacks connected to the union’s pension fund. The arrest comes just as five of the ten corrections officers on trial for the 2012 beating of Rikers Island inmate Jamal Lightfoot were found guilty of all charges after prosecutors alleged that the corrections officers had written false documents to explain the inmate’s injuries. On top of that, this comes on the heels of increased federal investigation into the NYPD and scrutiny of Mayor de Blasio’s campaign fundraising during his mayoral campaign. Tonight, we explore the implications for the city and corruption investigations. Then, we’ll be recounting the results of yesterday’s primaries with a roundtable of political experts. Columnist and political analyst Ellis Henican and host of The Blaze Amy Holmes join us to talk about the candidates, the polls, and what’s ahead as the nation pushes on to the Presidential election in November. Plus, we’re counting down the days to the Tony Awards, and tonight we talk to Megan Hilty. Hilty is nominated for ‘Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Play’ for her portrayal of Brooke Ashton in the Broadway revival of Noises Off, which is nominated in five different categories this year. She tells us about getting into that character, and shares what it was like to play other iconic women on the stage and on the screen.
