April 11: Brokered Convention. Trump in NY. Jackie Robinson. The Door.

As the New York state primary inches closer and closer, many are talking about the possibility of a brokered convention with Speaker of the House Paul Ryan ascending to the GOP nomination. But could it really be John Kasich for president with Marco Rubio as his vice president? Republican candidate Donald Trump has a sizeable double digit lead heading into next week’s Empire State vote, with thousands turning out for the billionaire’s rallies. But is he starting to lose momentum? And Jackie Robinson was the first African American to play Major League Baseball – a milestone in U.S. history that preceded the Civil Rights movement. In anticipation of “Jackie Robinson,” a Ken Burns two-part documentary on the baseball icon (airing on PBS April 11 and 12), we look back at a conversation sportscaster Len Berman had with Rachel Robinson, Jackie Robinson’s widow. Finally, have you heard of The Door? Maybe not, but for thousands of young people here in New York City, the organization represents a lifeline and alternative to living on the streets.

> TONIGHT ON 'METROFOCUS,' THE CLOCK IS TICKING TOWARD THE NE YORK STATE PRIMARY DAYS AWAY MANY ARE TALKING ABOUT A BROKERED CONVENTION WITH SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE PAUL RYAN ASCENDING TO THE NOMINATION.

WHAT ABOUT A JOHN KASICH PRESIDENCY WITH MARCO RUBIO AS HIS VICE PRESIDENT THAT'S HOW ONE POLITICAL ANALYST SEES IT AND HE IS HERE TO TELL US WHY CANDIDATE TRUMP HAS A SIZABL DOUBLE DIGIT WEEK HEADING INTO NEXT BEING'S EMPIRE STATE VOTE IS HE STARTING TO LOSE MOMENTUM?

WE'LL BE HERE WITH REACTION.

AND JACKIE ROBINSON PREMIERS TONIGHT ON PBS NUMBER 42 NOT ONLY STOLE THE HEART OF THE NATION.

HE ALSO STOLE IT FROM HIS WIFE RACHEL TOM WE GO DOWN MEMORY LANE

> AND WHERE DO TEENS WHG THE GET KICKED OUT OF THEIR SNOE FOR MANY THE ANSWER IS THE DOOR.

ALL THAT RIGHT NOW THIS IS 'METROFOCUS.

YOUR RETIREMENT COMPANY.

THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES HAVE CONTINUED CAMPAIGNING IN NEW YORK STATE AS WE APPROACH TH CRITICALLY IMPORTANT NEW YOR PRIMARIES WHICH ARE NOW JUST EIGHT DAYS AWAY.

AFTER SWEEPING EIGHT OF THE LAST NINE CONTESTS THE REJUVENATE BERNIE SANDERS TOOK THE FAMOUS BOARDWALK FOR A CAMPAIGN RALLY BEFORE HEADING HOME TO EVENTS IN NEW YORK AND BUFFALO HILLARY CLINTON LOOKED MORE LIKE A TOURIST LAST WEEK WHEN SHE STRUGGLED WITH HER METRO CAR WHILE TRYING TO GET INTO A SUBWAY STATION IN THE BRONX.

BUT SHE WISELY CHOSE A MOR CONVENTIONAL MODE OF TRANSPORTATION TO TAKE HER T RALLIES IN ROCHESTER AND BUFFALO THIS WEEKEND ON THE REPUBLICAN SIDE, KASICH CAME BROUGHT HIS MESSAGE OF BLUE COLLAR MODERATE CONSERVATISM T TOWN HALLS IN SARATOGA SPRINGS WHILE TED CRUZ AFTER A ROCKY VISIT TO THE BRONX LAST WEEK DEPARTED FOR WARMER PASTURES O THE WEST COAST CAMPAIGNING IN CALIFORNIA AHEA OF THE PRIMARY IN EARLY JUNE PERHAPS A SIGN THE TEXAS SENATOR VIEWS IT AS A FOREGONE CONCLUSION THE POLLING IS THE REPUBLICA FRONT-RUNNER AND NEW YORK MADE IT DONALD TRUMP'S A SIZABL LEAD HIS POPULARITY WAS APPAREN YESTERDAY AS THOUSANDS TURNE OUT FOR HIM AT A RALLY I ROCHESTER.

BILL, WHO IS A REPUBLICAN STAT ASSEMBLYMAN AND THE CO-CHAIR FOR THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN IN NEW YORK WAS TEMPERATURE RALLY.

AND HE JOINS US NOW.

ASSEMBLYMAN, WELCOME

THANK YOU FOR HAVING ME

YOU WERE AT THE RALLY WHAT WAS IT LIKE

IT WAS THE BIGGEST POLITICA EVENT IN MODERN ROCHESTE HISTORY.

NOBODY CAN REMEMBER, AND I G BACK TO WHEN I WAS 12 YEARS OLD.

THE 1968 NIXON HUMPHREY RALLY.

EVEN THEY WERE NOT THIS BIG.

IT WAS HUGE AS MR. TRUMP WOULD SAY, UNPRECEDENTED IN ROCHESTER.

AND ASSEMBLYMAN, WHY ARE YO DONALD TRUMP AND THE REPUBLICA CAMPAIGN

WELL, YOU KNOW, I'M BACKING HILL FOR THE SAME REASON I THINK MOST PEOPLE IN THE CROWD WER THERE.

ROCHESTER, ALL UPSTATE NEW YOR HAS SEEN A PARADE OF CANDIDATE GOING BACK TO MOST RECENTL 1994, GEORGE PATAKI SAYING THE UPSTATE ECONOMY NEEDED HELP.

AND THEN ELLIOTT SPITZER SAYIN THE UPSTATE ECONOMY, HILLARY CLINTON PROMISING 200,000 JOBS ANDREW CUOMO SAYING HE WOULD REINVIGORATE THE UPSTATE ECONOMY.

AND NOT NO OF IT HAS HAPPENED.

SO PEOPLE HAVE GOTTEN TIRED OF HEARING POLITICIANS, BOT DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS, PROMISE THINGS BUT THE GOVERNING IN A WAY THAT ACTUALLY KILLED MORE JOBS THAN THEY KRE AFLTD DONALD TRUMP I THINK I THE MINDS OF MOST OF THE PEOPL YESTERDAY IS A DIFFERENT KIND OF POLITICIAN HE IS CLEARLY CAMPAIGNING FO OFFICE BUT HIS BACK GROUND IS IN PRIVATE BUSINESS WHERE PATAKI AND HILLARY CLINTON AND ANDREW CUOMO HAVE NEVE ACTUALLY CREATED JOBS IN THEIR LIVES IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR, TRUMP HAS CREATED THOUSANDS.

HE GIVES A SENSE OF HOPE THA THE MORE POLITICALLY ESTABLISHED CANDIDATES DO NOT INSPIRE AN CONFIDENCE

ASSEMBLYMAN, DONALD TRUMP I THE CANDIDATE IN THE REPUBLICA FIELD WHO GETS MOST SOUNDL DEFEATED IN ALL THE POLLS AND IN THE AVERAGE OF REAL CLEA POLITICS BY BOTH BERNIE SANDER AND HILLARY CLINTON.

DOESN'T THAT GIVE YOU PAUSE?

NO, IT DOESN'T.

I'LL TELL YOU WHY.

GO BACK TO 2007 AND LOOK A HILLARY CLINTON VERSUS BARAC OBAMA.

HILLARY CLINTON WAS WAY AHEAD IN THE POLLS.

YOU LOOK AT 2007 AT JOHN McCAI VERSUS MITT ROMNEY IN TH REPUBLICAN PRIMARIES AND THE OTHER REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES RUDOLPH GIULIANI WAS SUPPOSED TO WIN THAT ONE SO THERE'S A SUCCESSION OF CANDIDATES AND RACES THAT HAVE DONE WELL IN POLLS, OR VER POORLY IN POLLS AS THE CASE MA BE EARLY ON.

I THINK WE'VE HEARD THOSE DENIALS BEFORE I SUSPECT THINGS WILL LOOK VERY, VERY DIFFERENT ONCE CLEVELAN ROLLS AROUND AND IT IS CLEAR THAT MR. TRUMP WILL BE THE NOMINEE AND THE NOMINATIONS WITH HIS OWN PEOPLE, THAT HE WON' HAVE ENOUGH TO GET IN ON THE SECOND BALLOT.

I THINK IT IS AN OPEN PLACE.

I THINK JOHN KASICH AND MARC RUBIO WITH THAT POINT COULD HAVE AS MANY AS 500, OR 600 DELEGATES BETWEEN THEM, WOULD BE IN A GOOD POSITION TO GET THAT THIRD FOURTH OR FIFTH POSITION

I WONDER IF THAT'S POSSIBILITY WHY HE IS STIL HOLDING ON TO HIS DELEGATES.

THERE'S BEEN A LOT OF TALK BEHIND THE SCENES THAT SPEAKER PAUL RYAN IS POSITIONING HIMSELF TO TAKE THE NOMINATION

I THINK IT IS UNLIKELY THAT SOMEONE WHO HAS NOT RUN AT ALL WILL SWEEP IN AT THE LAST MOMENT AND BE A CONSENSUS PICK OF 132 DELEGATES IN CLEVELAND I THINK IT IS MORE LIKELY TO B A COMBINATION OF TWO PEOPLE WH THE VOTERS HAVE SEEN WHO HAVE BEEN SPEAKING TO TH VOTERS AND GETTING OUT THEIR MESSAGE.

I KNOW THERE'S A LOT OF TALK ABOUT RYAN BUT I THINK THERE WOULD BE RESISTANCE TO A OUTSIDER THIS ENTIRE ELECTIO CYCLE COMING IN AND GETTING WELL OVER A THOUSAND DELEGATES.

PUTTING THE DELEGATES ASIDE WHICH I REALIZE YOU CAN'T DO I PRESIDENTIAL POLITICS, BUT KASICH WHO HAS ONLY WON ONE HOME STATE, OHIO.

LET'S SAY GRIEVANCE THAT'S THE REPUBLICAN ELECTORATE HAS, I SOMETHING WERE TO HAPPEN AT TH CONVENTION WHERE SOMEONE WHO DIDN'T GET JUST THE MAJORITY O THE VOTES FROM THE PARTY BAS DID NOT GET NOMINATION HOW ON EARTH DOES THE PART BRING EVERYBODY TOGETHER

WELL, I THINK A NUMBER OF THINGS WILL HAVE TO HAPPEN I THINK 40 B WOULD HAVE TO B CHANGED TO ALLOW SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T HAVE EIGHT STATES COUL BE AT THE TOP OF THE TICKET.

I THINK IT COULD BE MORE FAVORABLE TO MR. KASICH.

THE MIDWESTERN AND NORTH EASTERN STATES COULD ALLOW HIM TO BRIN UP SOME DELEGATES.

I THINK THE BIGGEST UNIFYING FACTOR FOR THE REPUBLICAN PART IS HILLARY CLINTON IF SHE IS THE NOMINEE, LITH.

WILL UNIFY THE PARTY

WHAT ABOUT IF BERNIE SANDER BECOMES THE NOMINEE.

IF BERNIE SANDERS BECOMES THE NOMINEE, I THINK IT IS MOR DIFFICULT.

ALL THE REPUBLICANS LOSE T BERNIE SANDERS IN THE POLLS.

THE BERNIE SANDERS IS BEATIN JOHN KASICH IN THE POLL, HE IS BEATING TED CRUZ, HE IS BEATIN DONALD TRUMP SO I DO THINK HILLARY CLINTON IS THE BEST FOR THE REPUBLICANS IF BERNIE SANDERS, INDIANA VOTERS THAT MIGHT LEAVE TH VOTERS IF MR. TRUMP IS THE NOMINEE WOULD SWING OVER T BERNIE SANDERS

WOW OKAY

LET'S IMAGINE THERE IS KASICH/RUBIO TICKET GOIN FORWARD.

HOW DOES THAT PLAY OUT NATIONALLY

WLATSS YOU HAVE WITH MARC RUBIO EVEN THOUGH HE WAS NOT SUCCESSFUL IN WINNING HIS OW HOME STATE YOU HAVE A YOUNG RELATIVEL FRESH FACE HE WAS NOT IN THE SENATE VER LONG BEFORE RUNNING FO PRESIDENT.

HE IS STILL A FAVORITE AMONG THE TEA PARTY.

YOU HAVE SOMEONE IN JOHN KASIC WHO HAS MUCH MORE CROSSOVE APPEAL A COMMON SENSE REPUBLICAN.

I THINK WE HAVE TO KEEP IN MIND, WE'RE PLAYING WITH HYPOTHETICALS.

FOR HILLARY CLINTON, IT SPEL REAL PROBLEMS FOR AER CAMPAIGN JOHN KASICH HAS MUCH HIGHE FAVORABLES THE ONLY PERSON RUNNING NOW WH HAS HIGHER FAVORABLE RATINGS THAN JOHN KASICH IS BERNIE SANDERS.

SO A KASICH/SANDERS RACE WOULD BE DIFFICULT FOR HILLARY CLINTON, JOHN KASICH IS STARTING WITH A LOT MOR SUPPORT FROM AMERICANS THA HILLARY CLINTON IS

FIRST OF ALL, THANK YOU FOR JOINING US I THINK THIS WILL BE THE MOS ANTICIPATED REPUBLICAN CONVENTION IN A LONG TIME.

WE ALL WAIT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS.

THANK YOU

> AFTER BREAKING THE COLOR BARRIER IN MAJOR LEAGU BASEBALL, JACKIE ROBINSON HA YEARS OF RID RIDICULE AN DISAPPROVALFUL

WHEN JACKIE ENDURED TAUNTIN ON THE FIELD, HIS WIFE HEARD IT.

WHEN HE WAS TRAINING IN TH SPRING TRAINING, SHE WAS RIGHT THERE WITH HIM TO LAUGH ABOU THE RIDICULOUSNESS ABOUT IT ALL.

IN THE YEARS SINCE HIS DEATH SHE HAS CONTINUED HONORING HIM THROUGH HER BORING AT THE JACKIE ROBINSON FOUNDATION.

THE SPORTSCASTER SPOKE WITH HE ABOUT HER RELATIONSHIP WITH HE HUSBAND IN THE IMPORTANT TRAIL OF THE FILM, '42,' AND HOW THI LEGACY CONTINUES TO RESONATE TODAY.

WE ARE ALL FORCED TO STUD HISTORY IN SCHOOL AS KIDS.

YOU LIVED HISTORY.

YES I DID.

WHAT WAS IT LIKE TO LIV IMPORTANT AMERICAN HISTORY

I THINK WE NEVER THOUGHT OF IT AS THAT FROM THE VERY BEGINNING WE CALLED IT A SOCIAL EXPERIMENT.

IT WAS SOMETHING NEW THAT NEEDED TO BE DONE IN SOCIETY AND IT WASN'T SO MUCH ABOUT JACKI ROBINSON HE WAS THE INSTRUMENT.

THE OTHER THING THAT WAS VER PERSONAL FOR US.

WE HAD BEEN ENGAGED FOR FIVE YEARS.

AND WE HAD AGREED TONIGHT GE MARRIED UNTIL I GRADUATED FROM COLLEGE AND HE GOT A JOB

YOU MENTIONED, RICKY WHO RA THE BROOKLYN DODGERS I ALWAYS WONDERED, WAS HE THAT MAGNANIMOUS AN INDIVIDUAL?

NOT TO BE CYNICAL OR, HEY, H COULD SELL A FEW TICKETS MINORITY BASEBALL FANS

NO, HE WAS A VERY COMMITTED PERSON HE WANTED TO SEE CHANGE TAKE PLACE AND HE WANTED TO BE A PART OF THAT.

IT WAS WONDERFUL TO WORK WIT HIM BECAUSE OF HIS ATTITUDE.

BECAUSE IT WAS NOT JUST, LET'S MAKE MORE MONEY.

OR GIVE ME MORE GLORY.

IT HAD TO DO WITH SOCIETY.

YOU WEAR THE NUMBER 42 FROM THE MOVIE.

I TAKE IT THEN IS A MOVIE YO HIKE IT WAS ACCURATE.

I LOVE IT IT IS TWO THINGS THAT I ASKE FOR.

ONE, IT IS AUTHENTIC IT IS ALSO INSPIRING I WANTED IT TO BE THAT I WANTED IT TO BE THAT WAY I'M GETTING CORRESPONDENCE FRO TEACHERS AND CHILDREN.

AND PARENTS ARE TAKING CHILDRE TO SEE AND IT THEY'RE COMING BACK AND TALKING ABOUT THEIR OWN LIVES.

WHAT IS GOOD, WHAT'S BAD ABOUT IT IT OPEN UP A LOT OF DIALOGUE I'M VERY, VERY HAPPY ABOUT IT.

WAS THERE A REBIRTH O INTEREST IN JACKIE ROBINSON?

THE JACKIE ROBINSON FOUNDATION

OH, YES THE FOUNDATION HAS GOTTEN GOOD EXPOSURE THROUGH THE FILM, THROUGH THE INTEREST IN JACK AND THROUGH ANOTHER GENERATION SUDDENLY, KNOW MORE ABOUT TH PAST AND I THINK THAT'S TH LEARNING THAT GOES INTO THIS

YOU SAT IN THE STANDS AND YOU HEARD THESE TAUNTS FROM FANS HE HEARS THEM YELLING AN SCREAMING HOW MANY DID YOU DEA WITH THAT?

WELL, IT WASN'T THAT WE HAD TO DEAL WITH IT ONLY IN TH BALLPARK WE HAD TO DEAL WITH IT IN OU LIVING ARRANGEMENTS.

THERE WERE PLACES, PARTICULARL IN THE SOUTH WHERE WE WENT FOR SPRING TRAINING.

WE COULDN'T BE SEATED TO EAT WHERE WE WOULD HAVE WORRY ABOU ACCOMMODATIONS IT WAS PART OF THE ERA FOR US, IT WAS A CHALLENGE IT WAS AN IMPORTANT CHALLENGE.

WE HAD TO BE TOGETHER TO UNDERSTAND THAT WE HAD TO MEET THIS CHALLENGE AND DO SOMETHIN ABOUT IT IT WAS A GOAL FOR US

WAS THERE A TIME WHERE JACKIE WOULD COME HOME AND EXPLODE?

NEVER ONCE.

HE COULD COME HOME ANGRY ABOUT SOMETHING THAT HAPPENED.

WHAT HE WOULD DO, THAT'S ANOTHER UNDERSTANDING.

THE HOME IS THE HAVEN.

INSTEAD OF COMING IN THE HOUSE ANGRY AND YELLING AT EVERYBODY HE WOULD GO OFF AND HIT GOLF BALLS AT A DRIVING RANGE AND THEN HE WOULD COME BACK AN HE WAS READY TO SIT DOWN AND B HIMSELF.

BUT IT WAS HARD TO CONTROL YOU EMOTIONS BUT IT WAS IMPORTANT TO CONTROL THEM

WHAT WAS HIS CONSTITUTION THAT WAS IMPORTANT THAT TE RIGHT CANDIDATE TO BREAK THE COLOR BARRIER BUT ALSO ONE THA WOULDN'T LASH OUT.

I THINK IT GOES BACK TO HIS MOTHER WHO WAS THE SHARE CROPPER IN GEORGIA WHERE HE WAS BORN SHE WAS A VERY STRONG WOMAN, A VERY OPINIONATED PERSON.

AND SHE JUST WASN'T GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE.

SHE PICKED UP HER FOUR CHILDRE AND MOVED TO CALIFORNIA.

MOVED INTO AN INTERRACIA NEIGHBORHOOD AND TAUGHT A LO ABOUT HAVING COMMITMENT, HAVIN DISCIPLINE, AND HAVING A WAY O OVERCOMING SOME OF THINGS, ATTACKS THAT ARE COMING TO YOU SHE HAD GOOD WAYS TO DO THAT

TELL ME WHAT THE FOUNDATION WAS DOING.

THE FOUNDATION IS DOING FABULOUS WE WERE INCORPORATED IN 1973 WE HAD GRADUATED 1,400 STUDENTS.

WE HAVE OVER 200 IN SCHOOL THI YEAR WE HAVE A 98% GRADUATION RATE.

DOUBLE THE NATIONAL AVERAGE.

AND OUR PROGRAM IS NOT JUS GIVING THEM MONEY AND WISHIN THEM WELL.

IT IS GIVING THEM MONEY FO THEIR TUITION BUT ALSO, GIVING THEM AN INDEPTH PROGRAM FO PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT AND TO HELP THEM DEVELOP THEIR LEADERSHIP POTENTIAL SO IT HAS DEPTH AND MEANING AN A LOT OF EMPHASIS ON THEIR GROWTH WE REALLY WANT TO PUT THEM OUT THERE.

AND THEY'RE GRADUATING AND GETTING JOBS

MY FAVORITE QUOTE WAS THA BABE RUTH CHANGED BABE BUT JACKIE ROBINSON CHANGED AMERICA.

I LOVE THAT

GREAT TO SEE YOU.

I WAS IN STATEN ISLAND IN A GROUP HOME

SO AFRAID YOU'RE NOBODY IN HERE.

THE VIOLENCE, SHOOTING EVER DAY.

> THE DOOR THE PLACE YOU MIGHT NOT HAVE HEARD OF FOR THOUSANDS OF YOUNG PEOPL HERE IN NEW YORK CITY IT REPRESENTS A LIFE LINE THAT HA HELPED THEM STAY OFF THE STREETS AND BETTER THEY THE TEENAGERS AND YOUNG ADULTS WHO COME TO THE DOOR COME FROM DIFFERENT BACK GROUNDS SOME MAY HAVE BEEN REJECTE BECAUSE OF THEIR SEXUA IDENTITIES EVERY DAY THEY GO FOR HEALTH CARE AND G.E.D. CLASSES.

THEY ARE ALSO DEALING WITH ANOTHER ISSUE, HOMELESSNESS.

YOUTH HOMELESSNESS JOINING US TO TALK ABOUT THI ISSUE AND THE DOOR'S WORK IS THE ORGANIZATION'S EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, JULIE SHOE SHAPIRO LET'S TALK ABOUT YOU AND THE DOOR HOW LONG THE ORGANIZATION HA BEEN AROUND.

WHEN DID IT GET STARTED?

AND TELL ME A LITTLE MORE ABOU THE WORK

SURE.

SO THE ORGANIZATION HAS BEEN AROUND FOR 44 YEARS.

IT STARTED IN '72.

AND THE FOUNDING BELIEF IS ONE THAT WE STILL RUN ON THAT THE CHALLENGES AND PROBLEMS FACING URBAN YOUTH ARE COMPLEX AND THEY NEED VERY INTEGRATE SOLUTIONS.

SO OUR MODEL IS TO PROVIDE COMPREHENSIVE YOUTH DEVELOPMEN SERVICE IN ADDITION VERY DIVERSE AND CARING ENVIRONMENT AND HELP YOUNG PEOPLE REALIZ THE FULL POTENTIAL

ONE OF THE ISSUES THAT YOU'VE HAD TO FOCUS FAIRLY RECENTLY I THIS NOTION OF HOMELESSNESS.

SPECIFICALLY YOUTH HOMELESSNESS.

AND I GUESS THE QUESTION FOR YOU, WHY ARE THE ISSUE SURROUNDING YOUTH HOMELESSNESS DIFFERENT FROM ADULTS?

AND HOW WE DEAL WITH THEM?

WELL, YOUNG PEOPLE, A LOT O YOUNG PEOPLE COME TO THE DOO WHO ARE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS OR HAVING A FORM OF DISCONNECTION WITH THEIR FAMILIES, WITH THEIR COMMUNITIES, THEIR NEIGHBORHOODS.

THEY COME FOR A WHOLE HOST O REASONS.

THEY'RE LOOKING FOR A NEW START.

AND YOUNG PEOPLE, THEY'RE IN A DIFFERENT DEVELOPMENTAL STAG THAN ADULTS.

THEY DON'T HAVE THE SAME RESOURCES, THE SAME SUPPORT.

THEY MAY NOT HAVE THE SAME LIF SKILLS SO THERE'S MORE VULNERABILIT THERE.

OUR APPROACH TO HELPING RESOLV YOUTH HOMELESSNESS IS THE WHOL RANGE OF SUPPORT THAT WILL HEL THEM GET STABILIZE ASKED SUCCESSFUL

WHAT ARE THE PROBLEMS SIMPL SAYING TO A YOUTH, THERE IS SHELTER OVER THERE AN ADULT SHELTER GO AHEAD YOU'LL BE FINE THEY'LL TAKE CARE OF YOU YOU SAY THERE ARE SOME DIFFICULTIES

YOUNG PEOPLE NEED A LITTL MORE SUPPORT THAN THAT SO WE HAVE MANY, MANY ADULTS I OUR BUILDING, OUR STAFF ARE VERY WELL EXPERIENCED IN BUILDING YOUNG PEOPLE UNDERSTANDING WHAT THEIR GOA ARE AND HELPING THEM ADDRESS THE ISSUES THAT MAY BE ASSOCIATE WITH IT.

WE ADDRESS HEALTH ISSUES, ISSUES AROUND LEGAL STATUS.

WE TRY TO HAVE A REALLY, REALL COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH WE TRY BUILD ON THE STRENGTHS OF YOUNG PEOPLE LET'S LEAVE THIS TO ELLIE.

YOU'VE BEEN KIND ENOUGH TO COM IN TELL US YOUR STORY AND HOW DID YOU GET TO THE DOOR?

SO I GOT TO THE DOOR ABOU SIX YEARS AGO.

AND A FRIEND TOLD ME ABOUT THE DOOR I WAS IN A SHELTER I HAVE TO GET MY GED THEY TOLD ME ABOUT THE DOOR.

I REALIZED THEY HAVE MAN DIFFERENT SERVICES THAT I COUL UTILIZISM GOT MY GED THEY WERE PAYING NO LOOK FOR A JOB.

BUILD MY RESUME AND KEEP A JOB AND IT WAS PRETTY COOL AFTER THAT, THEY HAD A PARTICULAR SERVICE FOR RUNAWAY HOMELESS YOUTH IT WAS PRETTY COOL THEY ASSISTED ME IN GETTIN HOUSING.

NOW I HAVE MY OWN HOUSE IN THE BRONX.

SO YOU'RE A SUCCESS STORY IF THE ELLIE OF 2009 OR 2010 CAME TO YOU NOW AND SAID WHA CAN I DO WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO HER?

DON'T GIVE UP KEEP MOVING FORWARD.

IT'S NOT HOW YOU START IT IS HOW YOU FINISH

VERY GOOD AND HARD AN DIFFICULT WORK THAT THE DOOR HAS BEEN DOING THANK YOU FOR SPENDING TIME WITH US ELLIE, CONGRATULATIONS GOOD LUCK TO YOU IN THE FUTURE YOU'RE A GREAT ROLE MODEL.
