Dissecting That Sinatra Swagger

“You’ve either got or you haven’t got style.”

Frank Sinatra sang those words in the 1964 film “Robin and the 7 Hoods,” but the mantra also carried over into his personal life.

Villency Design Group CEO Eric Villency says Ol’ Blue Eyes had a strict recipe for cool.

“He had a few rules,” Villency told MetroFocus Host Jack Ford. “You get up in the morning, you put on your suit, your cuffs have to be half an inch past the suit jacket,” he said.

Sinatra was rarely spotted without completing the look with a pocket square and a hat — titled, of course, and Villency says Sinatra’s attention to detail made him appealing for more than just his musical talents.

“…he was a consummate professional and I think he really appreciated style and knew that it was something which could be his calling card,” Villency said.

Villency says that signature style resonated with fans during Sinatra’s lifetime, and still does today.

“And if you think about it too he’s still current,” Villency said. “You have rappers like Jay-Z referencing him and thats an incredible feat to be in pop-culture for as long as he has.”
