For community college students, the road to the middle class can be a struggle. Reporter Andrea Vasquez explores the President’s Society at LaGuardia Community College, where students have an opportunity to learn professional skills outside the classroom to help them make the transition to the workforce.

Christian González-Rivera, a research associate at the Center for an Urban Future, discusses his study, “The New Face of New York’s Seniors,” which found that older immigrants in New York City face disproportionately high rates of poverty.

Nathan Pyle wrote and illustrated a book of survival for New Yorkers called NYC Basic Tips and Etiquette. MetroFocus host Rafael Pi Roman talks with Pyle about his humorous, yet all too true illustrations.
