State Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos Gives Up Leadership Position Following Corruption Charges

After first saying he wouldn’t step down after being charged with multiple counts of corruption, Republican State Senate majority leader Dean Skelos gave up his leadership position this week, but kept his Senate seat.

It’s the same scenario that played out this past winter when State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, a Democrat, resigned as speaker but kept his Assembly seat after he was arrested and charged with multiple counts of bribery.

So what happened? And what’s next? Matt Ryan reports from Albany.
