Dan Abrams: A Place Worth a Detour

Street performers in Washington Square Park. Their shows range from the circus-like to high-brow. Flickr/Ed Yourdon
As someone who grew up near Central Park, I have always loved New York parks. So, I sometimes take a slightly longer detour on my way to or from work just to walk through Washington Square Park. There are always a variety of street performances. Some are more circus-like, others more refined and some of the most entertaining were not intended to be performances at all. Sure Washington Square Park is a fraction of the size of Central Park, but I love the energy and the excitement and it always puts a smile on my face.
