Nonna Maria Giuseppina Buonfino DeCriscio as well as my Nonno Giuseppe DeCriscio were born in Pozzuoli, Naples, Italy. They had 4 children, the oldest Maria DeCriscio Bonanno, Adriano Carlo DeCriscio, Christina DeCriscio Maniscalco (my mom) and Louisa DeCriscio Marinello. In 1923 Giuseppe DeCriscio came to America through Ellis Island with his 2 oldest children, Maria and Adriano Carlo. They settled in East New York Brooklyn. Giuseppe worked as an elevator operator and 10 yrs later after saving up money sent for his wife Maria Giuseppina and their 2 youngest children to come to America. They lived at 201 Montauk Ave. in East New York, Brooklyn until 1956. They moved in with my mother Christina and father Antonio Vincenzo Maniscalco twhen they bought a house in South Ozone Park Queens next door to mom’s brother Adriano Carlo DeCriscio, his wife Jennie and their 3 sons. I cherish the childhood memories of family celebrations of Holidays with the Italian food, wine, laughter, tears, happiness, sadness, life in Italy. Grandparents, mom, dad, uncles, aunts and 3 first cousins are gone from this earth now.
