March is Women’s History Month and THIRTEEN is your source for documentaries featuring luminaries and leaders both past and present. We’re proud to draw attention to Inspiring Woman, a web series by American Masters, which profiles six diverse women working in New York City today.
With intimate and unprecedented access, Peter Bratt’s Dolores (March 27) on Independent Lens tells the story of Dolores Huerta, among the most important, yet least-known, activists in American history. She co-founded the first farmworkers union with Cesar Chavez and tirelessly led the fight for racial and labor justice. Mankiller (March 24) is the story of Wilma Mankiller, who overcame sexism to emerge as the Cherokee Nation’s first woman Principal Chief.
