Remembering 9/11. 20th Anniversary Programs in 2021
The al-Qaeda attacks on September 11, 2001 – since referred to as 9/11 – happened 20 years ago. Terrorists crashed passenger planes into the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers in New York City, into the Pentagon – the U.S. Department of Defense headquarters in Arlington County, VA – and into a field in Somerset County, PA, 130 miles northwest of Washington, D.C., the intended destination. Nearly 3,000 people were killed: 2,753 people in New York City, 184 at the Pentagon, and 40 on Flight 93 in Pennsylvania.
On the 20th anniversary of 9/11, THIRTEEN presents documentaries on those who lost their lives, those who grew up without a parent, the first responders who helped – and were sickened by dangerous dust – and investigations into who was responsible.
