Downton Abbey in New York City! If you haven’t been to Downton Abbey: The Exhibition yet, run to see it! It is so, so much fun! See the gorgeous costumes (that you need to see up close), plus props and recreations of some of the most iconic sets, including the Dining Room – home to all those disastrous Crawley dinner parties – Mary’s bedroom, where you can almost see Mary and Anna chatting by the dressing table, and the downstairs servants’ staircase where you can imagine Mrs. Hughes… wait, you can see Mrs. Hughes! As you walk into the exhibit you are greeted by a hologram of Mrs. Hughes speaking to you, welcoming you to Downton! It’s a little freaky, I must say! The exhibit is only in New York until January (while I was there, I did hear a rumor that it may be extended through April, but that is not confirmed at this time), so go see it now.
You may recall that previously there was a different Downton Abbey costume exhibit at Winterthur Museum in Delaware. Here is the link to my Downton Abbey Dish blog post about that equally fabulous exhibit. Enjoy!
