The Best of Downton on the Internet, 1/9

January 9, 2015

Every week, we put together a compendium of the best Downton-related clips from around the web. Have you found anything you think we should know about? Let us know in the comments.

This life-sized cake replica of the Dowager Countess is the big winner this week. We’d like to tip our ornate purple hats to baker Karen Portaleo – only a true artist could so accurately capture her ladyship’s visage via pastry. One can only hope that by consuming a slice, you automatically inherit some of her razor-sharp wit.

Also this week, our friends over at Entertainment Weekly challenged some of Downton’s most well-mannered ladies to raucous session of the crude, rude cult-hit card game, Cards Against Humanity. Hilarity abounds — and we’re hoping for a sequel with a certain Dowager Countess.

Over on flickr, user Eric Stevens has put together an impressive photoset of the Downton Abbey cast using lego minifigs. We’re particularly loving the accuracy of Barrow’s scowl.

Lastly, as Season 5 swings into high gear, let us not forget the beloved characters who have moved on from Downton over the years. BBC America has put together a rundown with some of our old favorites, and what they’re up to these days. You might recognize former Downton housemaid Gwen (Rose Leslie) as Ygritte on Game of Thrones. In our opinion, this is a much better gig than being a secretary.
