American Reckoning: A PBS NewsHour Special premieres Friday, January 15, 9–10 p.m. on broadcast, livestream, and streams on this page as well as PBS NewsHour YouTube channel.

To close the tumultuous days that resulted in the second impeachment of President Donald Trump following the January 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, PBS NewsHour presents a special report American Reckoning on Friday, January 15, 9–10 p.m.

American Reckoning: A PBS NewsHour Special Report will focus on the economic and racial history that led to a political divide between Americans, the impact of President Donald Trump’s rhetoric throughout his presidency and the next steps for the nation to heal from the recent attack on American democracy.

The broadcast will also examine the government’s missed opportunities to manage the spread of misinformation and the rise of domestic terrorism. The program will be anchored by managing editor Judy Woodruff and will include contributions from senior national correspondent Amna Nawaz, national correspondent William Brangham and others.

Inauguration Coverage January 20

On Wednesday, January 20 at 10:30 a.m., THIRTEEN will broadcast live Presidential Inauguration Day Coverage from PBS NewsHour. The special will include the swearing-in of the 46th President of the United States Joseph R. Biden and the 49th Vice President of the United States Kamala Harris. The broadcast will be anchored by managing editor Judy Woodruff, with contributions from White House correspondent Yamiche Alcindor, Capitol Hill correspondent Lisa Desjardins, senior national correspondent Amna Nawaz, national correspondents William Brangham and John Yang, and foreign affairs and defense correspondent Nick Schifrin, among other NewsHour talent and guests.

Celebrating America: A PBS NewsHour Presentation airs and streams 8-10 p.m., featuring remarks from the newly inaugurated President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, and performances by diverse artists.
