Foreign-language, international dramas are landing in our THIRTEEN Passport arrivals hall at a brisk pace! After the first premieres of seven dramas from Belgium, Canada, France, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden, new complete series from these and more countries will become available every Thursday and Friday through May 4, 2023! Curated by Walter’s Presents for PBS, these series can be streamed anywhere by PBS station donors with the member benefit THIRTEEN Passport.

DECEMBER 1: New Streaming Releases

New December 1: A woman breaks barriers within a revolutionary 20th-century art movement in Weimar Germany; a contemporary mother-daughter thriller from Germany; a romance and drama unfolds in late 1960s Barcelona, Spain, during Franco’s dictatorship; a Millennium cult complicates a detective’s work in a remote Finnish town; and a murder mystery in an Arctic town of Quebec, Canada.

Bauhaus

Art school students, this is your film. The Weimar-era historical drama Bauhaus is based on the real-life creators of the art movement and modernist school of design that influenced everything from house furnishings to graphic design. The film centers on Lotte, a young woman studying furniture design at the famous Bauhaus Design Academy in the early 1920’s. The made-for-TV film is inspired by the real life of children’s furniture and toy designer Alma Siedhoff-Buscher. As to the fate of the Bauhaus Academy: the Nazi regime force the school to close in both Dessau and Berlin, decrying it as “bolshevik.” Many members went into exile, and its founder Walter Gropius and Mies van der Rohe were among those who settled in the United States. All the Sins, Season 2

What the Future Holds, Season 1

He becomes an involuntary hero of the anti-Franco youth and begins his double life as an informant. He rises into the ranks of Barcelona’s dolce vita, but one mistake may cost him everything. Her struggles, though, are far from over, as she deals with new secrets and new threats to the academy.
