We bring you the 2022 State of the State Address via a New York Now Special Edition, Wednesday, January 5, 1-2 p.m. Joining the New York Now team is our own Jenna Flanagan of MetroFocus, who together frame the issues in New York State and New York City before the Governor’s speech.

THIRTEEN will broadcast the 2022 State of the State Address by Governor Kathy Hochul of New York, who will be delivering her speech to a limited, socially distant group. On January 5 at 1 p.m., a livestream will be available at thirteen.org/live and www.governor.ny.gov. The governor’s office encourages members of the public to tune in.

According to Hochul’s official website as governor, she has prioritized these issues during her first 45 days in office:

  • Combating COVID-19
  • Providing Relief to Renters, Landlords, Immigrants
  • Resetting the Tone in Albany

On January 2, 2022, Governor Hochul announced her Winter Surge Plan 2.0, focusing on five core areas: “keeping students in school, doubling down on masks and testing, preventing severe illness and death, increasing access to vaccines and boosters, and working together with local leaders.” The tactics of the plan are detailed on the governor’s site.

This special broadcast will interrupt the normal broadcast of the 1 p.m. hour on Wednesday, January 5: children’s programs Sesame Street and Donkey Hodie. Stream these programs on THIRTEEN PBSKids.
