In 2012 a small group of non-profits created #GivingTuesday – a day of giving and generosity, designed with a simple idea in mind: encouraging people to do good. Seven years later, it has grown into a global movement with a mission to build a more just and generous world.
#GivingTuesday has become an increasingly important source of funding for non-profits like THIRTEEN. Thanks to donors and Members who participate in our #GivingTuesday challenge by making a donation, THIRTEEN is able to further invest in fair and balanced news coverage like PBS NewsHour Weekend and Amanpour and Company, commercial-free children’s programming like Cyberchase and Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, popular dramas like Downton Abbey and Poldark, and the classic shows you know and love like Antiques Roadshow.
Spread the THIRTEEN Love on #GivingTuesday
#GivingTuesday always falls on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, which this year is Tuesday, December 3. Here at THIRTEEN, we’re hoping our community shows how much they care by sharing their love of THIRTEEN with friends and family.
What better way to do that than by creating your very own #GivingTuesday Facebook Fundraiser for THIRTEEN to help support the programming you love!
How to Set Up A Facebook Fundraiser
If you’ve never created a Facebook Fundraiser before – or even heard of them – don’t worry! We’ve got you covered with this step-by-step guide. Just follow the directions below to get your Fundraiser set up and share the love with your network.
Step 3: Click: “+ Raise Money.”
Step 4: Set a goal for your fundraiser! We recommend $200 as a common goal, though of course set whatever amount you think is appropriate.
Step 5: Give your fundraiser a title and a brief description. We suggest mentioning a personal connection you have with THIRTEEN and why you’re choosing to support us on #GivingTuesday, but feel free to write whatever you like!
Step 6: You can choose one of our published photos to share with your fundraiser, or upload your own! You can add more photos once the fundraiser is posted.
Step 7: Post to your Facebook page to share your fundraiser – you can also raise money directly through your status! Don’t forget to thank your friends and family who contribute. Their support as well as yours helps make public media possible.
