We have good news and great news to share, and we’ll start with the great news. Call the Midwife returns on Sunday, October 3, 2021, with an all-new Season 10. PBS members can get an “early delivery” of the season with the streaming benefit Passport.
Season 10 opens in 1966, and it’s a testing time for the midwives and nuns in London’s poor Poplar district. The social and health challenges in the neighborhood remain and the women’s rights movement is intensifying. Plot elements include nurse Trixie helping Sister Julienne, who is determined to steer Nonnatus House out of its financial quandary. Dr Turner deals with an array of difficult cases, including a former soldier involved in nuclear test explosions. Sister Monica Joan experiences a crisis of faith. Sister Frances realizes she needs to be a little less spiritual if she’s to really connect with the local women.

Each of the eight episodes of Call the Midwife Season 10 will roll out for PBS station members to stream, 30 days before its Sunday broadcast premiere. With the benefit Passport, members can stream Episode 1 on all platforms starting September 3, shortly before…Labor Day!
The additional good news is that Call the Midwife Season 9 – which premiered in March 2020, just when everyone’s lives were upended by the global coronavirus pandemic – will return to streaming as a warm up to Season 10. PBS members can binge-watch the eight episodes of Season 9 starting August 4, and everyone can start binge-watching September 4. The WNET Group station WLIW21 will re-air Call the Midwife Season 9 in a marathon broadcast on September 11 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (See how to tune-in to WLIW21.)
Whether you’re a PBS station member or not, this is a lot of family (watch) planning to take in at once, so we’ll review the streaming dates, below. You can stream on your mobile device or streaming service like Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV using the free Thirteen or PBS app, and on the Call the Midwife program page on this site. Everyone can tune-in for the national Sunday broadcasts of Call the Midwife Season 10 – or livestream them here or via the THIRTEEN app – October 3 through November 21, 2021.
