any contemporary musician should listen to and study his music.
David Jackson
He changed an approach to improvisation that influenced all instuments and vocalist.

Charlie Parker was so good, they even named a Jazz club in his honor, "Birdland". His mastery of the alto sax has never been equaled. Along with Dizzy Gillespie, he was instrumental (pardon the pun) in the introduction and popularization of Be-Bop. One need only listen to the lyrics of the Jazz standard "Birdland" to understand the awe and reverence his fellow musicians felt for this this true giant of American music.
