Why Do You Support THIRTEEN?

I grew up watching PBS, it’s always been a part of me. These days I spend about $100 a month for cable to watch about 3 specific cable shows. The rest of cable and major network programming is pure, and often offensive garbage. PBS is my refuge. When I go to flip around, PBS is always the first channel I check, and its often the last for the evening.

For a while, PBS actually had some competition in my living room, but its competitors have strayed and sold out. The “educational” cable channels have days of continuous crime shows or gun programs. Not the kind of education I’m looking for. In retrospect, the quality of PBS’s shows was always better anyway. Today I find more shows I want to watch here, than on all the rest of my 120+ channels combined. It’s often the only place I can find anything that’s informative, positive or just plain interesting. So if I’m going to keep paying for cable, I feel obligated to also support PBS.
