Access Policy


Access to The 51st State collection is subject to the terms of agreement in the grant and pre-established policies in place at Thirteen...

Guidelines
  • To view these materials, researchers must contact the archive directly via mail or email.

  • Use is restricted to onsite access only.

  • Researcher will be required to read and sign an access policy agreement form prior to use of materials.

  • Researchers are permitted access to processed archival collections only. Request for any use of materials other than research will have to go through Thirteen's Rights and Clearances department.

  • Costs associated with clearing and/or remastering any materials for specific use must be paid by the party requesting such materials.

  • Approved use of materials must include a credit recognizing Thirteen as the source of the materials. One copy of the final work must be donated to the Archives free of charge.

  • Unauthorized use of materials for purposes other than those expressly approved by Thirteen could result in legal action.

All bags and coats will be stored in a secure location while materials are being accessed.

Visits to the Archive will be scheduled according to the time sensitivity of a researcher's project and the availability of Archive staff.

Fees

If the researcher requires audiovisual materials to incorporate into a moving image production, the associated production and clearance fees are the responsibility of the researcher.
