Massive Bierstadt Landscape on Display at Brooklyn Museum

In the 1860s, despite increasing westward expansion, many Americans still had not seen images of the frontier. Imagine, then, gazing into Albert Bierstadt’s 84-square-foot oil-on-canvas paean to Manifest Destiny, A Storm in the Rocky Mountains, Mt. Rosalie.
