Our legal name and official address for purposes of wills, trusts, etc. is: WNET.ORG, 450 West 33rd St., New York, NY 10001
Our Federal Tax Identification Number is 26-2810489
In March 2009, WNET.ORG was granted its status as a nonprofit organization. It is the “parent company” for Thirteen, WLIW21, and the Educational Broadcasting Corporation as well as for the company that produces Worldfocus, our nightly international news program. Prior to March 2009, the entity accepting bequests and other gifts was the Educational Broadcasting Corporation which has a federal tax identification number of 13-1945149. That entity still exists, and wills and trusts naming EBC are still valid. However, clients who may be revising their wills, or making new wills, should have the bequests made to WNET.ORG. Charitable gift annuities are still established with Educational Broadcasting Corporation as that is the entity that holds the required permits from the New York State Insurance Department and the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance.
Stock brokers seeking information about transferring shares of stock electronically to WNET.ORG should call Ms. Arielle Altman at 212.560.8185, or email to Altmana@thirteen.org.
Questions regarding life-income gift plans such as charitable gift annuities or charitable remainder trusts should be asked of either David Clough at 212.560.4989, clough@thirteen.org or John Matthews at 212.560.6832, matthewsj@thirteen.org.
Executors and attorneys handling estates and trusts for donors to Thirteen should contact David Clough as noted above.
