In this episode of Young Opera, meet Saeunn Thorsteinsdottir, a cellist currently studying at the Julliard School of Music. Learn about her musical upbringing in Iceland, hear how she discovered her passion for the cello in a place as unlikely as Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and watch her perform “Prelude in E-flat” from J.S. Bach’s A Suite of Dances.

I love bach. This is a beautiful performance. I am drawn to the intensity of the performer and like the way this was filmed. Nice work.

These webcasts are a great idea. New artists need a venue for their talent and this is a wonderful way to give them that opportunity. We really enjoyed the Bach and the performance was outstanding!

She’s amazing. I love this cellist! Where else is she playing? Lovely piece, well done.
