Renee Fleming, one of the world’s leading sopranos, headlines the opening night gala of the Met’s 125th anniversary season, featuring fully staged excerpts from three of her favorite operas. Joined by tenor Ramon Vargas, baritones Thomas Hampson and Dwayne Croft and bass Robert Lloyd, Fleming appears in the second act of Verdi’s La Traviata, the third act of Massenet’s Manon and the final scene from Strauss’ Capriccio. Music director James Levine and maestros Marco Armiliato and Patrick Summers share the podium for this gala event.

Hello – trying to find air times for this. Is it only airing on March 15 at 12pm, or will there be a repeat telecast as well later in the day/week?
hi, channel 13! i am in toronto and the dates given on your webpage do not always correspond, i.e. salome was shown at a completely different day and time as advertiesed. i am particularly interested in met’s opening night and thais and wonder if you could give me the exact dates and times for those two performances in toronto. many thanks for all your wonderful programmes.
Please tell us when the Opening Night Gala will be repeated. I may have to miss the end this Sunday, and I’m hoping for a re-broadcast.
I have seen this Gala in the movie theatre and was looking forward to view it again. I was totally upset with PBS’s taking great liberties to truncate this wonderful telecast by removing long scenes from both La Traviata and Manon. I do not believe Renee Fleming or Peter Gelb would approve Thirteen’s actions against the opera loving public. I wonder what will come next fund drive after every 15 minutes?
I was on your email list and I got NO warning of this broadcast! I have been WAITING for the gala! Please rebroadcast without any cuts – we’re in toronto too – and we find it very hard to find out what you are broadcasting
Fantastic broadcast.. It was so appreciated
