Philippe de Montebello interviews the Lawrence A. Fleischman Chairman of the American Wing and Metropolitan Museum of Art curator Morrison Heckscher about the recent opening of the New American Wing at the museum. They discuss Michelle Obama’s appearance to cut the ribbon, American art and history’s relevance to the 21st century, the Alexandria Ballroom, the creation of period rooms for the public, the Engelheart Court, and education through the arts.
