This week in SundayArts News: go see Allure of the East: Orientalism in New York, 1850-1980 running until August 17 at the New-York Historical Society along with the concurrent exhibition Woven Splendor from Timbuktu to Tibet, watch Betrayed at the Culture Project in SoHo, take a trip to the Katonah Museum of Art for the exhibit Here’s the Thing: The Single Object Still Life through June 29th, go upstate for Out of This World: Shaker Design Past Present and Future at the Bard Graduate Center through June 15, and Momix is at the Joyce Theater from now until June 8th.

Since you seldom visit the Katonah Museum of Art, perhaps this snippet from Ch. 13 about the current exhibition, “Here’s the Thing,” may pique yours interest.
