Design maven and industry leader Norma Kamali is a New Yorker who knows who how to put the fun in fashion. In February she populated her flagship store on W. 56th St. with oversized photographs of models sporting her Fall 2011 collection.
At the David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center on Wednesday, Kamali took insiders into a new dimension in fashion. In a one-of-a-kind presentation, Norma Kamali showed her Spring 2012 collection in the form of a 3D, 8-minute fashion film.
For the movie, her glamazon girls got into the swing of things with a playful and jazzy go-go-style montage that showed off the season’s 67 looks. Gold, stripes, polka dots, sequins and fringe abounded, while the 3D technology provided a look at the movement and shapes and fabrics.
Two of the film’s stars were there in person, and shimmied along with the designer herself.
Norma Kamali says of the union of fashion and 3D: “Fashion and 3D marry beautifully, not only for entertainment, but to see clothes in an illuminated and fun way.”
