SundayArts knows she’s a devoted advocate of the saving the Garment District, making the most of the city’s manufacturing resources and building her business here in the city. She’s designer Nanette Lepore. She first got her start in the East Village on a shoestring budget, and she’s now a worldwide force in the industry.
On Wednesday, the designer’s day-glo brights took center stage. Live music performed by Sam Bisbee and his band generated an uplifting energy to the Stage at Lincoln Center as a parade of vividly intense sherbet hues delivered serious bursts of color.
Lepore paired her trademark silhouettes of flattering, feminine cuts with fabrics saturated in neon. Shades of tangerine, citron and fuchsia shouted electric youth, and glamourous maillots and two-pieces commanded visions of lounging poolside in style.
