SundayArts Fashion: Carolina Herrera Spring 2012

While the lingering heat of summer blanketed the city on Monday, inside the Theater at Damrosch Park, the coolness of spring was most assuredly in the air at Carolina Herrera.

Carolina Herrera for Spring 2012 is all about a palette of bold brights. Top models like Arizona Muse and Karlie Kloss sported juicy hues of citrus (grass green, canary yellow) and cherry red, energized by airy fabrics like chiffon, organza and crepe de chine.

Geometric patterns kept things graphic with a chic art deco sophistication.
Cheerful sparrow prints and punctuations of appliqué detailing also added a signature delicate flair that her customer loves.

Carolina Herrera’s collections are always famed for her stunning evening gowns. Mrs. Herrera told Paula Zahn in last year’s Fashion Week Review: “I think for the evening you have to have a little bit more fantasy. Fashion is full of fantasy.”

Her many well-heeled fans of that fantasy were front-and-center, including red carpet favorites Renee Zellweger, Olivia Munn and Corinne Bailey Rae, and some of SundayArts’ featured industry insiders, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, Veronica Webb, Steven Kolb, Glenda Bailey and Linda Fargo.
