AIR DATE: 4/18/09
Synopsis:
Sheldon Kornpett (Alan Arkin) is an anxious Manhattan dentist who just wants to get through his daughter’s wedding in one piece. Unfortunately, she’s marrying the son of Vince Ricardo (Peter Falk), who may or may not be a certifiably insane rogue CIA agent. Arkin and Falk are unforgettable in this Odd Couple meets James Bond comedy classic.
Director: Arthur Hiller
Hiller was born in Alberta and graduated from the University of Toronto in 1947. He began his show business career in television for the CBC in Toronto in the 1950s, and was a successful television director before moving to Hollywood, where he directed The Out of Towners (1970), Man of La Mancha (1972), and Author! Author! (1982). He was nominated for Best Director at the 1971 Academy Awards for Love Story. Hiller served as President of the Director’s Guild from 1989 to 1993 and President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences from 1993 to 1997. He was the recipient of the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the 2002 Academy Awards ceremony in recognition of his humanitarian, charitable and philanthropic efforts.

My wife and I are great fans of this movie. The remake did not do justice to this wonderful comedy. Each time we see it we enjoy it as much as the first time. The cast was wonderful and each role was so appropriate for each actor. They shouldn’t try to remake what is already a minor masterpiece of comedy by expert actors.
Can you show that movie again?
I missed that last year.
Thank you
