My immediate sympathies lie with “Paul” and are attached to him throughout the film. Only towards the end do my sympathies extend out to “Ouisa” as well. I don’t even have the slightest sympathy for “Flan”, his kids or the other families involved because they are all so pompous, self involved and ignorant it angers me. That’s a testament to the writing of those characters and how the actors interpreted them that I would have such a strong reaction.
