Wonderful! I’ve watched it several times. Reminds me of a Forties dance movie…Evan Kasprzak is perfect as the shy janitor - his dancing and expressions are lovely.
I loved this short film…Evan is just such a wonderful dancer. It was like watching Gene Kelly in action..brought me to a long gone era..thank you
I’m a United Methodist pastor near Bloomington where Evan has studied at Illinois Wesleyan University, and my wife Liz and I are big fans of “So You Think You Can Dance.” We really enjoyed Evan on the show and are looking forward to seeing his brother this coming Season. Love this film. I watch it all the time, I miss seeing Evan on the little screen. He is a joy to watch. This is stellar Evan. We are so lucky to have the opportunity to experience all that is Evan Kasprzak.
The buzz around this short film is incredible! People of all age groups say they love Evan’s dancing, Ryan’s choreography and Jason’s artistic vision. I think we have a powerhouse team here that could transform dance and film. The support for this trio is astounding! I hope the entertainment industry is paying attention. Interest in Gene Kelly is high right now because of them and I am sure Ryan will keep it going.

Such a beautifully crafted film! The choreography is quirky and a delight to watch! The simple storyline aids the viewer in diving deeper into the janitor’s whimsical imagination. Entertainment at its finest. One cannot help but smile and enjoy the music and dance!

This short is incredible! Finally someone who isn’t afraid to go back into the style of Broadway and Gene Kelly. People still crave that kind of entertainment today. Evan is great and the vision of Jason is incredible!

Jason has a wonderful eye for filming as well as casting and Evan is superb in both his acting, expressions and dancing. Ryan is a very talented choreographer and it makes me very happy to see such talented youg men producing soemthing so classy and wholesome for a change! I have loved Evan and Ryan ever since seeing them on So You Think You Can Dance. Thanks for everyone involved in this film for bringing back an almost lost style of dance and for putting a smile on my face.
What was the point of this film? Is there a moral or a reason behind this at all? The other two at least had a story behind what was going on and why the film was made. This just seemed to have no point at all. The dancing was nice but not for a film…
Mike…I don’t think that I film has to have a “social commentary” or “moral dilemma” to have a point. Beyond insight, film is a medium that has the ability to entertain and put a smile on one’s face. The joy of nostalgia (and life in general) is often overlooked in the constant pursuit of philosophical meandering. “Make ‘em laugh”
Sometimes we just forget about the simple things in life and this film truly put a smile on my face!
Evan did a great job!
Mike — the point is that everyone you meet has something to offer and that we should not judge just by appearances those around us. Take time to see who people are and not just assume they have nothing of interest to offer just because they dont seem to be walking the same road.
OK, the fact that I’m a Kasprzak fan honestly does not get in the way of my assessment of this film. I think the music, choreography, cinematography, editing and direction are all delightful in this short. (And the credits are just as much fun to watch as the movie itself, something else that sets this film apart from the other entries). I like the nostalgia and innocence of this sweet, simple little movie. Even if I had no idea who Evan Kasprzak was, I would still come back to this short time and time again, bookmark it and share it with my friends. That is why, as much as I admire much of the other two entries, this is the one that gets my vote. Bravo!
Exactly, Diane. It’s about not judging people by their appearance- a concept that, ironically, Jeff B should learn.
It’s really easy for a dance film to look crappy and unprofessional that will lose the audience’s interest at any second. But this one keeps the audience with greatly framed, lit, and shot films. Sweet choreography and Evan are a plus, but the does an awesome job entertaining the audience with this simple, smart video.
Cathy and Diane…This video proves nothing. It was not entertaining. The acting was very corny and cheesey much like that of a crappy H.S. play. Nobody was judging anyone in the film by apperance. The guy was simply a creeper who daydreamed about this women who worked in an office and he pictured the mop being her after she left. Granted she was not put off at the fact he was randomly dancing. I give it credit that it was artistic with the dance and the music was nice, but to put on TV…not so much. There was not much point. I no way did it keep my attention or draw me in. Once again…THIS FILM HAD NO SUCH JUDGING OF ANYBODY IN IT…THE WOMAN JUST HAPPENED TO CATCH HIM DANCING AND JUST HAPPENED TO BE INVOLVED WITH A DANCE STUDIO…THATS SIMPLY IT!!!!

I personally found the After hours short cute, delightful and full of life.It had good music. good dancing and all around good performances that combined to put a smile on my face. The other two shorts didn’t do that nor did they enlighten me.

Very cute! I enjoy how no one talks, adds a good element to the film.
May I critique? A few of the camera angles were a bit odd, and I would have enjoyed more partner dancing. It seemed like a lot of just him dancing, it would have been more appealing to see some good ol’ 50’s duo dancing.

Evan is a talented choreographer and the film was beautifully shot. I like the use of the dancers in the scene in the center of the courthouse. I did think some of his dance moves were not entirely well matched for the song used, I would have liked to see something a little smoother. It is obvious Evan is more Gene Kelly than Fred Astaire as far as style, meaning more physical and acrobatic. I found this light and entertaining. Keep at it and good luck!

You obviously spend way too much time on video games and today’s shallow tv entertainment to be able to see the romantic draw from a classic style short film. I feel sorry for you–you are missing a great joy in life..OR ARE YOU JUST JEALOUS FOR SOME REASON OF THE UNUSUAL CREATIVITY OF THE AFTERHOURS CREATORS!!! hum…something to think about.

I have taken nothing away from this film. I gave it credit and good words. Sorry that you don’t agree with my thoughts about it. I enjoy a good work of art but this was not my favorite. Argue all you want about this, but no matter what you say, your above comments don’t exactly match how the film was. NOBODY judged anyone else in this film. It was great dancing with the classical music. I believe I said I enjoyed that, however, what little acting there was, was either over done or way to cheesey. Like I said, it was nice, not my favorite, and not captivating enough to put on TV in my opinion. Lol and by the way…video games have nothing to do with any of this and good job looking for some lame excuse to throw in because you had nothing else. How creative of you, but I don’t play video games any how. I am far to busy with my career and art on the side 
Mike’s so busy with his career he’s got the time to write a thesis here on a Wednesday morning.
We have a sad tendency in society to think that every student film must have some deep resounding point. If not, it’s not worth its reel. That is why many young artist waste their time with artsy films nobody cares about instead of entertaining a public audience that could one day allow them to make their deep film.
No offense to Mike’s opinions but to say the acting her is cheesy but love the other one is just down right bias.

The film is a great piece of art. The acting was perfectly fitting for this resurrected style of entertainment. This isn’t heavy, American realism, its a light - but still invested - piece of acting. Fighting won’t change that, just like it won’t change Mike’s inability to recognize it as a worthy piece. The loss is his.

What a delightful little film! Great story and Evan is as magical as ever. I love to watch him dance — and kudos on choosing Al Hibbler’s 1950’s hit, After the Lights Go Down Low.
I am so HAPPY to see Evan from SYTYCD on this, and to see that his brother Ryan did pursue this type of work! I love it!
I am glad C.C. mentioned Hartman’s genius. Even when there are no words someone has to write the story or it doesn’t work. He laid out a great story line and framework to make this little gem work great.

I could watch this film over and over again. It’s beautifully choreographed and danced, and the direction is fantastic too. I never would have stumbled on it if it hadn’t been for Evan being on SYTYCD, and I’m so glad that my fascination with him on there led me to this. It’s just marvelous!
It’s like watching a young Gene Kelly. The camera work is as graceful as the dancer himself, and the lighting has the same graceful fluidity as the choreography. The scoring is the icing on the cake.
The voting on the shorts has become nothing more than friends voting for friends. It’s not voting for the short you think is best. It’s who knows the most people. The voting should be set up the way the Oscars are in that you have to actually see the film to vote on it. You should have the link to vote at the end of the films, and you have to watch all three before you can vote. The way it is now you don’t even have to watch any of them to vote. One short, as of today, Monday morning, has 223 votes and only one comment?! What does that tell you?
