What is Reel 13 Shorts?
Short films can now be submitted to the Reel 13 Shorts Web site for consideration to be viewed on-line. The public will then rate their favorite films on-line. The winning film will receive an award of $250 and be broadcast on Reel 13, Thirteen’s new weekly Saturday night programming block of classic and independent cinema. Reel 13 Shorts will be broadcast after the Reel 13 Classic film and before the Reel 13 Indie feature on Saturday nights.

How were the films selected?
Reel 13 Shorts is curated by Colleen McHugh, Curator/ Producer. All genres of film are accepted for review including narrative, documentary, animation and experimental. Reel 13 Shorts showcases films that demonstrate strong storytelling, performances, and command over the craft of filmmaking.

What if I become a finalist?
Finalists will have their film showcased on WNET/Thirteen’s Reel 13 Shorts Web site and/or embedded in other Web sites on the Internet. The top rated film will be based on our interactive online viewer rating system. The decision of the online viewers is final. The top rated film will receive $250 and their film will be exhibited over the broadcast facilities of WNET/Thirteen and by such other means of distribution as described in the licensing agreement.

How can I submit my film?
Filmmakers interested in submitting work should visit Reel 13’s submission page, or mail a DVD of their film along with the Reel 13 Shorts downloadable submission form and signed license agreement to the attention of:

Will Reel 13 Shorts repeat?
Yes. The entire Reel 13 program will have an encore presentation following the premiere Saturday evening broadcast.
