What’s your favorite “movie about movies”?

Many movies try to take “the movies” as a subject, the intersection between art and reality, performance and life. What’s your favorite “movie about movies”? Richard Pena’s favorite is the French film “Irma Vep.”
You guys ask such hard questions. Come on, you guys. I’d be torn, I think, between Billy Wilder’s “Sunset Boulevard” and John Schlesinger’s “The Day of the Locust”. Both films share a wonderfully bleak vision in a setting that’s supposedly always glamorous. I also have a weakness for a film that nobody seems to like, Robert Mulligan’s “Inside Daisy Clover”. This one is totally GOTHIC from start to finish and has a great performance from Natalie Wood.
The obvious answer is Living in Oblivion with Steve Buscemi and Catherine Keener. Duh.
For Your Consideration (2007) is a great overall reflective of the warped side of Hollywood. funny-depressing
Robert Altman’s “The Player” and Paul Mazursky’s “The Pickle” are my favorites. And I’m with rayban in the comment above; I like “Inside Daisy Clover” too - you have to love Ruth Gordon’s performance!
The first great film that comes to mind is François Truffaut’s “Day for Night” (La nuit américaine) from 1973.
Nikki, I am so glad that I found somebody else who likes “Inside Daisy Clover”. And, Larry, Truffaut’s “Day for Night” is a totally charming film about making movies.
