The theme is new animation for this week’s lineup for Reel 13 Shorts:
Pachelbel Kanon directed by Walter Santucci. A surreal, whimsical 2D animation about a group of monsters performing a modern rendition of Johann Pachelbel’s “Kanon in D” in an abandoned Detroit neighborhood. Their DJ, who overslept, rushes to get to the performance in time. The film is a combination of traditional hand-drawn animation and digitally altered photographic backgrounds. The music is a likewise a combination of traditional (cello) and modern (electric bass, guitar and turntables).
The Perfect Park directed by Leon Sooi. The protagonist, a Perfectionist, is obsessed with parking his car perfectly. Equipped with measuring tools and gadgets, he demands from himself the highest standards in the art of parking. But perfection is relative to the surrounding environment. How can one park perfectly in an imperfect parking lot?
Home Sweet Home directed by Genevieve Farley-Tremblay. A young woman travels the world, but comes to understand that her home is near the ones that she loves.
Enjoy this week’s films and vote for your favorite!
