Sin Nombre!
I thought this was a great film. Will it be shown again on 13 or 21?
I don’t particularly care for this type of film, but I did like Elia Kazan’s 1963 film, “America, America”.
This movie is great. I wish to see more movies like this one. Immigration is an ongoing problem. It’s a painful issue, and should be resolved with humanity and kindness.
I’d add to the list “Saving Face,” “The Terminal,” and “Lost Boys of Sudan.”
Mine is “The Rose Tattoo”,(1955), Anna Magnani, Burt Lancaster, Marisa Pavan. About Italians in Louisiana, a widow mourning her husband’s death, and a daughter trying to get her mother to forget the old country tradition of eternal sorrow and continue with life. American cinema has not given much attention to Italian immigrants, their family life, history, contributions. This one does, and it shows the sentimental, strong family structure of Italian-American life which made them endure discrimination, language barrier and helped them assimilate and contribute greatly to American culture.
“The Rose Tattoo” is such an amazing film! It would great if Ch. 13 would air a series of films from the POV of the second generation.
I read your blog when I was in Quebec. I bookmarked your site and read your post again when I reached CA after I purchased my new ed online computer. The site is excellent and looks the best in new!
