HOWARD’S END is a beautiful costume drama, receiving an Oscar nomination for Best Costume Design. What is your favorite costume drama?
Neal Gabler finds there are so many to choose from, from drawing room films like SENSE AND SENSIBILITY to spectacles like GLADIATOR - and they would both be on his list.

My favorite is Titanic. It may be a little over the top, but the bold color and intricate bead work on main character Rose are just beautiful on screen.
One of my favs is “Topsy Turvy” - a Mike Leigh film about Gilbert and Sullivan. Brilliant period detail, and screamingly funny.
My favorite are a few, Gladiator was superb. Gone with the wind is also tops on my list. Brannaugh’s Hamlet was also in my top favorite 10 films.
I always get a kick out of Piero Gherardi’s costume design for Fellini’s “Juliet of the Spirits” - he also did the art direction!

That’s a tough one. Some of my choices include “Shakespeare in Love” and the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy.
