Q: Do you have any interesting/and or amusing behind-the-scenes stories about the making of this particular work?
A: If a pigeon living in your bathroom for a couple of weeks to model the various harness designs doesn't qualify as research, I'm not sure what does. Also, on the rooftops you have up to one thousand birds flying right over your head, so an "accident" was bound to happen and it did. No equipment was hurt, just my pride. One thing people assume when they see our footage is that we must have had a few pigeon casualties. Not true. At the recommendation of Jose Rivera, the owner of the coop, we have always used the same bird, Rueben, for camera testing. Rueben (named because his eyes look like red rubies) has performed successfully throughout. What we did have, though, was a couple of situations where Rueben went AWOL wearing our equipment.
